St. Vincent And The Grenadines Bureau Of Standards
The Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Bureau of Standards’ (SVGBS) was established by Standards Act No. 70 of 1992 (amended by Act No. 28 of 2001) as a corporate body and operates under the aegis of a designated Ministry. The SVGBS’s modus operandi is guided by its overall legislative mandates, the policy of government and the administrative direction of the National Standards Council. The SVGBS also operates in accordance with several national, regional and international legislations and agreements. The STANDARDS ACT NO. 70 OF 1992 (AMENDED BY ACT NO. 28 OF 2001) gives the SVGBS authority, inter alia, “…. to prepare and promote standards relating to goods, services, processes and practices produced and/or used in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, to ensure industrial efficiency and to assist in industrial development as well as to promote public and industrial welfare, health, safety and to safeguard against negative effects to the environment”. Additionally, the SVGBS is responsible for the administration of the WEIGHTS AND MEASURES ACT NO. 16 OF 2003. This legislation gives the SVGBS responsibility for regulating all weighing and measuring devices used for trade in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Bragsa
BRAGSA is the acronym for The Roads Buildings and General Services Authority. It is a statutory organisation established in 2009 by the government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines through an Act of Parliament (Act No. 23 of 2009). BRAGSA’s mandate is the management and supervision of the construction and maintenance of roads and buildings, stone-crushing, quarrying and construction operations of the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. BRAGSA sells products and provides services to the general public on a commercial basis. These features together make BRAGSA a very unique entity, and provide it with the double challenge of having to meet the public satisfaction and expectation while at the same time operating in a manner that will allow it to balance income and expenditures. BRAGSA’s objectives are to construct and maintain roads and government building; construct and maintain seawalls, jetties and similar public infrastructure; maintenance of rivers; stone-crushing, quarrying and construction operations and other related services of the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The organisation’s goal is the development of an operational model that is relevant, effective, and responsive to the needs of its stakeholders, based on best practice qualities of efficiency, accountability and transparency, in all facets of its operation while delivering services that offer the highest level of satisfaction possible to the general public. Mission statement - “BRAGSA will operate ethically to effectively and efficiently construct and maintain infrastructure, and provide products and services of the highest quality and standards to all stakeholders while promoting the growth and development of its human resources”. Vision statement - “To be an established institution with a motivated and committed staff providing highly regarded, high quality products and services in all areas of roads, buildings and general services required for development nationwide".
