تم تأسيس جمعية أرض الإنسان في عام 1984م كفرع للمؤسسة السويسرية ( تير دي زوم –Terre de Hommes ) إلى أن استقلت كمؤسسة أهلية فلسطينية عام وتحمل الترخيص رقم 6037 من وزارة الداخلية و تتم إدارتها بواسطة مجلس إدارة من ذوي الكفاءات المهنية الفلسطينية العالية. تعتبر جمعية أرض الإنسان الفلسطينية الخيرية هي الجمعية الريادية المتخصصة في مجال أمراض الطفولة الشائعة والتغذية والصحة المجتمعية في قطاع غزة، حيث تقدم خدمات وقائية وعلاجية وإرشاد أسري وتثقيف صحي من خلال مركزي الجمعية في غزة وخان يونس وتقوم جمعية أرض الإنسان بإجراء الأبحاث والدراسات المتعلقة بالوضع الصحي والغذائي للأطفال دون الخامسة – معدلات انتشار النحول وقصر القامة بين الأطفال دون سن الخامسة. – تقييم عادات وممارسات الأسرة الفلسطينية فيما يتعلق بالرضاعة الطبيعية- الأغذية التكميلية – معالجة الإسهال والجفاف – العادات والممارسات الغذائية وتأثرها بالأمن الغذائي معدلات انتشار ومحددات كثافة الإصابة بالطفيليات المعوية بين الأطفال بقطاع غزة – نسبة انتشار ومعدلات الخطر لمرض لين العظام بين الأطفال. وقد قامت الجمعية بعمل هذه الأبحاث بالشراكة مع جهات مختلفة كوزارة الصحة الفلسطينية ، الجامعات الفلسطينية ـ منظمة الصحة العالمية ، اليونيسيف, مؤسسة العمل ضد الجوع – أسبانيا ، مؤسسة تيرديزوم -سويسرا ـ الشبكة العالمية لتغذية الأطفال الرضع- جنيف وغيرها. ومنذ انضمام جمعية أرض الإنسان في عام 1995 للشبكة العالمية لتغذية الأطفال الرضع تبنت كافة إستراتيجيات الشبكة وبدأت كأول مجموعة لدعم الرضاعة الطبيعية في العالم العربي على مستوى قطاع غزة والضفة الغربية. وتقود الجمعية في كل سنة الحملة الوطنية لدعم الرضاعة الطبيعية بالتنسيق مع وزارة الصحة والمؤسسات الدولية والأهلية والمجموعات الداعمة للرضاعة الطبيعية.
