Baku State University

The decision on establishment of university in Baku was made on 01 September 1919 during the assembly of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic’s Parliament – a new educational center, where Europe and Asia joined was created. Baku State University is known as a leader of educational institutions, has a rich history and today it is known as one of the most famous scientific and educational centers of Azerbaijan Republic. The University has been the center of thought and national thinking. Today, Baku State University offers students 16 majors with 55 bachelor and 153 master degrees. Every year, thousands of young people do their best to pass difficult competition, to enter Baku State University: the competition is 3 persons per place of the faculty; sometimes it reaches 10 persons per place of the certain faculty. Every year 40 of the 100 best entrants, are awarded by the president of Azerbaijan Republic for their high results in education to “presidential grant” on behalf of BSU. In a pair with paying attention to teaching the main specialties, the University does great work on teaching of foreign languages. For this purpose more than 10 linguistic rooms based on new educational technologies were given for students to use. The University library has more than 2.5 million books, and its 12 reading rooms, 5 subscription departments systematically serve more than 15 thousands of students and teachers. At the same time the University is the center of 37 scientific research and teaching labs which cover not only natural but also humanitarian spheres.The Scientific Research Institute of Applied Mathematics and Scientific Research Institute of Physics Problemshave more than 200 employees. Here also are taught such disciplines as refinements of Azerbaijani language, its history and literature, genetics, nanotechnology, invention of nanomaterials and other wide spectrum fields.

Azerbaijan State Oil And Industry University Asoiu

The origin of ASOIU is linked to the rise of the petroleum industry in Baku. In 1887, a preparatory technical school formed, which evolved into Baku Polytechnicum. By 1910, it offered an oil-focused curriculum, but with a skewed student ratio. In 1920, it transformed into Baku Polytechnical Institute under the Azerbaijan SSR. It trained engineers across industries. In 1923, it became Azerbaijan Polytechnical Institute; 1929, separate Agriculture Institute; 1930, Azerbaijan Oil Institute (AOI); 1934, Azerbaijan Industrial Institute (Az.I.I.). World War II strained Az.I.I, yet it produced oil engineers. In 1952, Azerbaijan Polytechnical Institute was founded, shifting non-petrochemical courses. Az.I.I. became Azerbaijan Oil and Chemistry Institute (AzOCI) in 1959. In the 1960s, an evening program emerged, leading to Sumgait State University in 1992. Post-Soviet independence led to ASOIU's establishment in 1992. ASOIU adopted a Western model in 1993, with first bachelor's and master's graduates in Renamed Azerbaijan State Oil and Industrial University in 2015 by presidential decree.

Baku Girls University

Seminary is a French word that means educational institution. It was first established in Reims, France in 1684, and then in Halle, Germany in 1695. Historically, the seminary was one of the special secondary schools in Western Europe and Russia, and mainly provided religious education. Later, seminaries were established to prepare primary school teachers. The first teachers' seminary in Russia was opened at the end of the 18th century - in 1779 in Moscow. Gori Seminary, established in 1876, had a strong impact on the development of education, science and culture in Transcaucasia, including Azerbaijan. In the 80s of the 20th century, the country's education system faced a strong crisis. Baku Higher Pedagogical Girls' Seminary was established in such a period. It was a time when the existing education system did not meet the requirements of the time. A new, alternative, more progressive and successful system was badly needed. The Girls' Seminary became one of the swallows of such a system. The management of the seminary determined the directions of improvement of higher pedagogical education, created a new model. This model was very different from the "Nature-Society" model of the Soviet education system. By adding "personality" and "God" components to the old educational model, the content of education in the seminary was built on the basis of the "nature-society-personality-God" model. The charter of the seminary was approved in 1992. Thus, the legal basis for the organization of the Seminary was created. A student admission commission was established under the chairmanship of Professor Agarahim Rahimov. On July 27, Azerbaijan Television announced the admission of students to the Baku Higher Pedagogical Girls' Seminary in the fields of "Pedagogy and psychology","Pedagogy and pedagogy of primary education". Nazim Abbasov was assigned to lead the educational work.

The Baku Branch of Lomonosov Moscow State University was established on January 15, 2008. The tuition is based on the curricula of the Moscow State University with innovative technologies and broadly applied know-how. Erasmus Student Network (ESN) is the biggest student association in Europe. It was born on the 16th October 1989 and legally registered in 1990 for supporting and developing student exchange. We are present in more than 800 Higher Education Institutions from 40 countries. The network is constantly developing and expanding. We have around active members that are in many sections supported by so called buddies mainly taking care of international students.
