Ministry For Foreign Affairs Of Finland
The Ministry for Foreign Affairs promotes the security and welfare of Finland and the Finns, and strives to attain a fair and secure world. The Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the network of diplomatic missions abroad subordinate to the Ministry serve Finns, Finland’s economy and society, government leaders and Parliament. The network of Finnish missions abroad comprises 92 offices. In addition, Finland has about 400 honorary consulates. Alongside the embassies, consulates and other service points in different countries, Finland has diplomatic missions to international organizations, such as the United Nations. The scope of activities extends from relations between states to assistance for individual citizens. Suomen edustustoverkosto käsittää yhteensä 92 edustustoa. Lisäksi Suomella on noin 400 kunniakonsulaattia. Eri maissa sijaitsevien suurlähetystöjen, konsulaattien ja muiden toimipisteiden lisäksi Suomella on edustustoja kansainvälisissä järjestöissä, esimerkiksi YK:ssa. The Finnish Institute of International Affairs (FIIA) produces topical research on international affairs, the European Union and Finland's foreign policy. FIIA organizes seminars and webinars on its research. The Institute also publishes a journal, Ulkopolitiikka (Finnish Journal of Foreign Affairs), and maintains a specialized library. The Institute was established by the Parliament of Finland in June 2006 and the Parliament also provides the Institute’s basic funding. The Institute is autonomous in its research activities and is governed by a nine-member board, assisted by an advisory council and a scientific advisory council. The European Centre Of Excellence For Countering Hybrid Threats
Hybrid CoE is an international, independent network-based organization promoting a whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach to countering hybrid threats. While understanding the changing security environment is essential, it is not enough to analyse the threats, but also to provide concrete tools for countering them. Hence, the Centre’s key task is to build participating states’ capabilities to prevent and counter hybrid threats. This is done by sharing best practices, testing new ideas and approaches, and providing training courses and exercises. Hybrid CoE also has an important role as a platform between the EU and NATO, providing a forum for strategic discussions and joint training and exercises. The excellence is achieved through Hybrid CoE’s cross-governmental, cross-sectoral networks, which consist of over 1,200 practitioners and experts working with hybrid threat- related tasks in participating states, in the EU or NATO, in the private sector and in academia. As an actor connecting other actors from various societal sectors, the Centre’s aim is also to lead the conversation on hybrid threats by publishing a wide variety of publications and engaging with various partners in the field. The Centre’s work is planned and coordinated by the Hybrid CoE Secretariat located in Helsinki, Finland.

Nordic Road Association (NVF, Nordiskt vägforum) is a public-private co-operation with approximately 320 member companies. NVF was founded in 1935. Today it has six member countries: Denmark, the Faroe Islands, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. Each country has its own national association. NVF’s vision is “Competence without borders”. The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) serve as the strategic basis for the NVF. The 17 SDGs are included in UN’s Agenda 2030, a universal agenda for sustainable development. The agenda aims to achieve the 17 global goals by 2030. More information about the UN SDGs: https://sdgs.un.org/goals Broad Nordic specialist networks are created through the Nordic Road Association. NVF aims to promote the development of the road and transport sector. This is done through formalized co-operation in the Nordic expert network, active communication with other Nordic and international networks, and by arranging open seminars and congresses. In NVF’s working groups specialists across the public and private sector meet to exchange and develop information, knowledge, experience, and best practices. The chairmanship of the NVF is changed on a rotating basis every four years between Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. Finland holds the chairmanship period for the current period 1st July 2024–30th June 2028. The chairmanship period ends with Via Nordica -congress in 2028. Via Nordica is a major Nordic road congress which is organized every four years. The latest congress was held in Copenhagen in 2024. The next congress will be held in Tampere, Finland in June 2028.
