Matter-Id

Matter-ID is engineered to serve as a singular, universal medium for authentication and digital signing, tailored for both government and business sectors. For individuals with a government-issued biometric document, such as passport or identity card, Matter-ID introduces a seamless enhancement by transforming it into an authentic digital identity. Matter-ID is available as a versatile white-label solution, enabling countries and organizations to tailor the platform - including renaming and rebranding - to meet their specific requirements. To use Matter-ID, users first create a digital identity, which Matter-ID validates through either a third-party KYC provider or a Government Registration Authority, and secondly users request an authentication or signing through a service provider or vendor, known as a 'Relying Party.' Matter-ID then confirms the user's eligibility and issues the necessary certificates for digital authentication and signing. The Matter-ID infrastructure will be configured and set up on-site and control can be handed over to responsible government institutions. In the case of private digital identity, the accountability will lay on the Matter-ID certified infrastructure. Matter-ID will continue to validate certificates for authentication and signing requests. If certificates are proven to be valid, the user will be issued a challenge code through Matter-ID. If the challenge codes match, the user is prompted to enter their 4-digit authentication PIN or 5-digit signing PIN. Matter-ID is specified and built to be compliant with e-IDAS 2.0 requirements.
