Mission: The Bibliotheca Alexandrina aims to be: A center of excellence in the production and dissemination of knowledge and to be a place of dialogue, learning and understanding between cultures and peoples. Objectives: The unique role of the Library of Alexandria, as that of a great Egyptian Library with international dimensions, will focus on four main aspects, that seek to recapture the spirit of the original ancient Library of Alexandria. It aspires to be:* The world’s window on Egypt.* Egypt’s window on the world.* A leading institution of the digital age.* A center for learning, tolerance, dialogue and understanding.

Bibliotheca Alexandrina-Library

The Library Sector seeks to establish itself as an international center of excellence through its collection of books, periodicals, maps, multimedia, and electronic resources, and most importantly, customized services to its users. The BA is a new form of learning space that is designed to bring the community of learners together to partake in knowledge in all its formats. The open access shelves display the library collection through a reading area which cascades over the seven levels of the library and accommodates readers under its roof. Museums, exhibitions, a conference center, and other entities are all within a few steps from the reading area. It is truly a place that appeals to all five senses.

The MISR Public Library (MPL) is considered one of the most important pioneering projects on the Egyptian cultural scene. The MPL's philosophy is based on the idea that the library is a living reality that interacts with the public, and that it constitutes the foundation for the cultural structure of the society. MPL aims at encouraging people of all categories and age groups to develop their reading habit, and make use of the cultural and educational materials that are available in the library; as well as developing and updating these materials in order to satisfy the desires and needs of its members. it also aims at providing the tools and means for lifetime self-education. Modern technological developments have added a new aim to the library objectives, for the purpose of enhancing and developing computer and internet usage skills among the various categories of the society.

Cybrarians Arabic Portal For Librarianship And Information

Cybrarians is non-profit organization established in Egypt in 2002, and works in librarianship community in Egypt and Arab countries. Cybrarians offers free services for librarians, like: database for Arabic journals articles, conference papers, and theses in librarianship. We issued the first Arabic electronic journal in library and information science, in 2009 the journal selected to be added in EBSCO. Cybrarians has some commercial services, like training courses, web development, and technical services for libraries.

The project’s goal is to create a linkage between all parties related to Egyptian books; producers (authors, publishing houses and libraries) and consumers. This would be done through the launch of the first Egyptian website that archives Egyptian books, the website will include a directory of authors, publishing houses, and libraries, which would be easily accessible to the user. The project will provide two kinds of services the first in which is providing an online service as mentioned above in addition to an offline service which is providing a data base for think tanks and organizations interested in Egyptian publications. A hotline will be established for book delivery using simple methods of payment as Egypt has a rooted "cash culture".

مبادرة كتاب يساوي حياة

تقع على الدولة مسئولية كبيرة في تنمية وتطوير دور الأيتام، والاهتمام بأطفال الملاجئ، لأنها فرصتهم الوحيدة لحياة كريمة، ولكن عادة تهتم مؤسسات الدولة بتوفير المتطلبات الأساسية بشكل مباشر مثل المأكل، والملبس، والتعليم الأساسي، والرقابة، والتقييم لعمل تلك المؤسسات. وإلى جانب الاعتناء بالتغذية والصحة النفسية والجسدية، لابد من اتباع منظومة متكاملة لتأمين احتياجات الأطفال وتوفير جميع صور الرعاية والتربية أخلاقياً ودينياً وعلمياً بمساعدة من مختلف أطياف المجتمع. لذا تهدف هذه المبادرة إلي: 1- دعم ملاجئ الأطفال بمجموعات من الكتب لتكون نواه لإنشاء سلسلة من المكتبات الخاصة بدور الأيتام. 2- دعم المخططات الرسمية للدولة في توفير بيئة صالحة للأطفال لاكتشاف مواهبهم وقدراتهم وهواياتهم وتوجيهها بشكل سليم. 3- استخدام القراءة لتنمية قدرات الأطفال وإثراء خبراتهم وزيادة معلوماتهم ومعارفهم وتمكينهم من تحصيل المواد الدراسية بسهوله ويسر.* يتم استقبال الكتب فقط عن طريق التبرع سواء من الأفراد أو المؤسسات، ولا يتم قبول أي تبرعات نقدية.
