Muzeul Abandonului
The Museum of Abandonment is a digital and participatory forum-museum aiming to map out a culture of abandonment and offer a historical narrative of the abandonment and institutionalization of children in Romania. The Museum of Abandonment is the meeting place between the wider public and the invisible community of Romania’s abandoned children. The Museum of Abandonment is a safe space where this collective trauma can begin its healing process. The Museum of Abandonment also functions as a prompt reaction to a specific urgency: the historical and memorial retrieval of the Hospital-Home for Unrecoverable Deficiency Juveniles in Sighetu Marmației, a symbolic point of reference for the entire phenomenon of abandonment in Romania. The building of the Hospital Home in Sighet – the origin of worldwide-circulated images in the early 1990s – was itself abandoned twenty years ago. It has been digitally preserved through 3D scanning and thus immortalized with all of its powerful and traumatic history, and is now the symbolic home of the Museum of Abandonment. In the thirty years since the end of dictatorship, the Romanian state has never initiated any official form of public recognition of the trauma of child protection system survivors. For a collective trauma to begin the journey towards healing, it must first be socially validated – an act which requires a public. We are all needed. The Museum of Abandonment strives to become a healing and safe space of dialogue for a huge community whose immense collective trauma has never really been publicly acknowledged and discussed – the hundreds of thousands of abandoned and institutionalised children in Communist and post-Communist Romania. The Museum of Abandonment seeks to document, exhibit, and digitally preserve the material and immaterial remains of the institutionalised abandonment of children in Romania.

Complexul are în subordine şi obiective muzeistice de pe teritoriul oraşului Iaşi şi, respectiv, al judeţului. Muzeul Municipiului București - Palatul Suțu
Muzeul Comunal Bucureşti a fost înfiinţat la sfârşitul lunii iunie a anului 1921, printr-o Hotărâre a Consiliului Comunal Bucureşti, la propunerea primarului Gh. Gheorghian, însă lipsa patrimoniului cultural a împiedicat punerea în aplicare a acestei hotărâri. Ulterior Primăria a început să organizeze prin Direcţia Culturală identificarea şi strângerea colecţiilor, precum şi căutarea unui sediu, activitate care s-a intensificat abia după anul 1926. Donaţia lui D. Rosetti din luna iulie 1929 a constituit nucleul de bază al Secţiei de Preistorie. La data de 31 iulie 1929, muzeului i-a fost atribuit un spaţiu în imobilul din calea Moşilor nr. 115, la intersecţia cu Bd. Carol I, clădire care nu mai există astăzi, unde a fost organizată o expoziţie cu materiale rezultate din cercetările arheologice. În luna februarie 1930, Consiliul Comunal a aprobat funcţionarea muzeului în Casa Moruzi, situată pe calea Victoriei la nr. 117, cunoscută şi sub numele de „Casa cu lanţuri” – monument istoric construit la sfârşitul secolului al şi demolat în anul 1941. Inaugurarea propriu-zisă a instituţiei muzeale a avut loc pe data de 22 noiembrie 1931, în prezența primului ministru Nicolae Iorga, a primarului general Dem I. Dobrescu, a foştilor primari Matei Gh. Corbescu şi Emil Petrescu, precum şi a primului director al Muzeului, cunoscutul colecţionar dr. George Severeanu. În Casa Moruzi au fost organizate expoziţiile de arheologie preistorică, istorie, numismatică şi medalistică. Fondul numismatic cuprindea aproximativ de monede antice şi medievale şi a fost alcătuit în mare parte din colecţia numismatică personală a doctorului G. Severeanu şi din donaţia lui Romulus P. Voinescu. Dr. George Severeanu a fost director al Muzeului Municipal în perioada 24 martie 1931 – august 1938, iar muzeul a cunoscut o considerabilă dezvoltare sub îndrumarea acestuia.
