We are also available to give lectures and present our experiences and knowhow to other people involved in music and elaborate on matters most artists can't be bothered to look up themselves. Kavka

Kavka organiseert al jaren toonaangevende events in zijn thuisbasis aan de Oudaan of in Kavka Zappa op het Kiel. Steeds nieuwe lichtingen van organisatoren kunnen er experimenteren en realiseren hier hun projecten en ideeën. Een 150-tal vrijwilligers zorgen ervoor dat Kavka het hele jaar door kan blijven draaien. Kavka Oudaan ligt pal in het centrum van Antwerpen en is een ontmoetingsplaats met zo'n bezoekers per jaar. Hier kan je feesten, repeteren, workshops volgen en deelnemen aan tal van andere activiteiten. Het imposante oude schoolgebouw ontpopte zich tot een bruisend jongerencentrum met een concertzaal, café en uiteenlopende werk- en repetitieruimtes. Daarnaast biedt Kavka eventgerelateerde workshops aan en kunnen jonge kunstenaars terecht in de exporuimte. Kavka Zappa is is een evenementenzaal op het Kiel waar een divers aanbod aan events voor en door jongeren gerealiseerd wordt. Naast feesten en concerten biedt Zappa ook plaats aan o.a. bedrijfsevents, beurzen en recepties. Ensemble Dre

We are DRE, an ensemble that's passionate about classical music with a jazzy or Latin touch. Our ensemble consists of classical guitar (Ine Clerckx), violin (Reinout Pauwels), double bass (Daniele Giampaolo) and percussion (Lucas Heytens). The abbreviation 'DRE' came from Dyens Roland Ensemble, after the composer whose works determined our very first programme. His music, with elements of jazz music, Brasilian rhythms and a touch of the French Chanson inspired us to form our ensemble and is still a major part of our repertoire. Apart from his music, we have also performed works by Argentinan composers Miguel Angel Cherubito, Maria Luisa Anido and Ariel Ramirez. Our program was built completely on arrangements written by our percussion player, Lucas Heytens, as the works were originally meant to be played by guitar solo. We are a young ensemble and we are convinced that we can send a message with our varied, innovative program.

You will also have danced to a lot of his club-projects. Not many people have such a big and wide musical knowledge to fall back on. Peter eats, breaths and lives music. As recognition of his productions, there are many Dance-Awards standing in his glass cabinet at home as proof!

Jazz Middelheim

De geschiedenis van Jazz Middelheim begint op 17 mei 1969. Elias Gistelinck, productieleider van de jazzsectie van de toenmalige BRT Radio, organiseert vanaf dan elk jaar een reeks concerten in het Middelheimpark in Antwerpen. Pas in 1973 wordt het een meerdaags zomerfestival onder de noemer "Jazz Middelheim", al verhuist het festival wel van het openluchtmuseum naar het Park Den Brandt aan de overkant. Tot 1981 is Jazz Middelheim een jaarlijks festival, daarna werd het tweejaarlijks georganiseerd. Na de editie van 2007 besteedt de VRT de organisatie uit aan Jazz en Muziek vzw, die haar sporen verdiende met het Gent Jazz Festival. Vanaf dan werd Jazz Middelheim weer een jaarlijkse afspraak rond de 15e augustus. Jazz Middelheim blijft een omroepfestival onder de Klara-vlag dat ook op die zender wordt uitgezonden.
