Shanghai Royal Music World (RMW) had its grand opening in August, in Hong Qiao Developing Area in Shanghai, People's Republic of China. The Principal, Ms. Linda Xia Bin, who received her Master's degree in Piano Performance and Music Education in New York, has been in charge of the ABRSM music exam in the region of New York City for decades. The ABRSM music exam is an authoritative and internationally recognized system of music exams. Under Linda's coordination, the ABRSM music exam was successfully carried out each year from to 2008 in Shanghai for foreign passport holders. The number of the candidates increased 40% yearly and the results were excellent and encouraging. Royal Music World is the first music school to administrate the internationally-recognized ABRSM music exam to expatriate in Shanghai, as well as the first school to use the ABRSM syllabus to train its students in Mainland China. Led by Linda, RMW has a strong team of teachers, most of them are bilingual and specialized in teaching the ABRSM syllabus. All teachers in RMW hold degrees in various instruments from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Shanghai Normal University or other musical institutions from western countries including the UK and the US. Most teachers have received Masters or PhD degrees in music. RMW teaches all students of all ages and at all levels. Books or texts will be provided for those who wish to take the ABRSM exams and those who do not. RMW provides professional bilingual service management.
