Showcase Pianos
Owner Manuel Bernaschek has a passion. As a piano lover who recognized the need for fine pianos in Vancouver, he founded Showcase Pianos in 2007. Showcase Pianos carries only the finest artist's instruments, highlighting world-class brands such as Fazioli, Grotrian, C. Bechstein and their 'W. Hoffmann' line. But it was the Fazioli piano that inspired Manuel the most. For many years there was much talk in the piano community about a man in Italy who was making the finest pianos in the world."We kept hearing that more and more famous pianists were converting to playing on Fazioli pianos, so I really wanted to bring them here," says Manuel. He was determined to introduce one of the greatest concert grands in the world to his talented locale, handmade by world-renowned Paolo Fazioli. The German-made Grotrians are another notable draw - as are the economical 'W. Hoffmann' series by Bechstein, another performance instrument completely made in Europe. Over the past several years, Showcase Pianos has made a name for itself serving exquisite instruments of music to cherish and enjoy, with a crescendo of acclaim that resounds throughout Vancouver's most illustrious private homes and concert halls. Manuel Bernaschek is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Spanish. Manuel believes strongly in his community, and is on the Board of Directors of the Vancouver International Song Institute (VISI), as well as Place Des Arts in Coquitlam.

Winnipeg Folk Festival
The inaugural Winnipeg Folk Festival was held in 1974 as a one-time celebration to mark Winnipeg’s 100th anniversary. It was a free event and attracted an estimated audience of over the three-day weekend. While our organization has grown considerably since then, the gathering in 1974 created a community and laid down important roots in Birds Hill Provincial Park that remain strong today. Our summer festival’s cumulative attendance now exceeds and includes thousands of visitors and performers from across North America and around the world. We have nearly dedicated volunteers who contribute well over hours each year to create the magic that is the Winnipeg Folk Festival. We have evolved from a one-weekend event in July to a year-round arts organization with folk music at our heart. We present dozens of concerts and events throughout the year, support our community with education and outreach programs and operate a folk music store and performance space in Winnipeg’s historic Exchange District. We are also a not-for-profit charitable organization. Our four-day weekend festival in July generates more than $29.4 million in economic activity and creates 281 jobs for the province of Manitoba. The impact on Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in Manitoba is estimated at $14.7 million. The GDP represents the estimated net economic activity generated from this signature Manitoba event.** 2010 Economic Impact Assessment by Tourism Winnipeg

Bopper
Bopper was created for the audiovisual industry by veterans from the audio production and advertising industries. We remove all obstacles associated with licensing recording artists, creating instant access to a new source of music that has been largely untapped so far. It's an evolution from online royalty-free music libraries and a great alternative to custom music. Creatives can quickly find ad-friendly music from trending artists, music that drives the emotional bond with an audience which only real music can do. All of our tracks have been curated so creative teams won't lose time listening to music that could not be used for brand content. Producers love how fast and simple it is to license our music. We turned what used to be, on average, a four-week process into instant licensing. And since all of our tracks are E&O insured, production teams don’t need to worry about using them. We can even assist with music searches if help is needed. Editors love that they can download a non-watermarked track and pay only if it makes the cut. Most of the tracks are also available in an instrumental version. Up-and-coming artists finally have access to a new source of potential revenue. And since each track gets priced individually based on their reputation and the license terms, they also get paid fairly for the use of their work. It's truly a win-win for all parties unlike other alternatives out there. With brands becoming more and more socially responsible, we see Bopper as our humble contribution to help the new music scene thrive and flourish even more. The Bopper Team

Canmore Folk Festival
The Canmore Folk Music Festival is the longest running folk music festival in Alberta and one of its finest. Adhering to a philosophy and legacy of folk, world, blues and roots music, the festival since 1978 has attracted up to music fans annually from across southern Alberta, western Canada, the northwestern USA and indeed the world. Its venue is the downtown Centennial Park in the heart of Canmore’s valley bottom. Surrounded on all sides by the majestic Rocky Mountains, the backdrop of breathtaking scenery merely enhances the incredible music pouring forth from three stages all weekend long. Taking place over three days of the Heritage Day long weekend in August, the festival features 18 individual acts or performers, an alcohol-free, family-friendly site, a free children’s concert on the Saturday afternoon, a free downtown street dance on the Friday evening and a kids’ area jammed with crafts, puppets, theater, bouncy castle and climbing wall. The workshop stages partner up eclectic mixings of musicians from disparate and diverse backgrounds, often resulting in that ephemeral “lightning in a bottle” sound that will never be recreated twice. Each evening the main stage concert features six hours and six performances highlighting the best of what each has to offer. We also have a pub venue within short walking distance. Every year more than 550 volunteers come together to make the Canmore Folk Festival the huge success it is. Collectively they donate more than 4,500 hours of free labour. Over the years the Canmore Folk Music Festival has contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to the local community through outreach programs in the schools, the construction of the landmark Stan Rogers Stage in Centennial Park, infrastructure upgrades to the park, the development of musical scholarships for students, and songwriting workshops for both youth and adults. MISSION STATEMENT Creating a community through a shared love of folk music.
