The White Helmets
The White Helmets is a grassroots-led humanitarian organization founded in 2013 to provide emergency services in areas of Syria where state-run services had collapsed following the outbreak of the conflict. We work to support civilians in conflict zones through the implementation of a wide range of stabilization and humanitarian activities. With support offices in Canada, Turkey, the United States, and Europe, the White Helmets operate in Syria in non-regime-controlled areas serving more than 4.5 million civilians. We have a team of around volunteers whose humanitarian work helps hundreds of communities prepare for, respond to & recover from attacks and natural disasters. Our mission is to protect lives and property as well as engaging communities to raise awareness, acting with both integrity and professionalism, while promoting justice in situations of war and peace, ultimately seeking to achieve high levels of sustainability and resilience for a safe and stable society. The White Helmets have saved over 128k lives since 2013. The activities carried out by WH are divided into three categories: Emergency, Resilience and “Justice and accountability. Our justice and accountability program documents and forensically preserves evidence of atrocities in Syria and has informed numerous international investigations, including those by the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. The Department of Ecumenical Relations and Development (DERD) is the official humanitarian arm of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch and All the East (GOPA). Iraqi Student Project
The Iraqi Student Project (ISP) is a grass-roots effort to help young Iraqis acquire the education they need to participate in rebuilding their country. ISP is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. There are currently 47 Iraqi students under ISP sponsorship studying at 35 college/universities across the US. Fourteen will graduate in May/June 2012. Nine more (the Class of 2016) are in preparation in Damascus, Syria, under the tutelage of the founders and volunteer teachers from the US, the UK, and around the world. Our Mission: The Iraqi Student Project seeks to make undergraduate education possible for qualified students who were studying in Iraq, are unable to continue their education because of the violence, and intend to return and contribute to the rebuilding of Iraq as soon as it is safe to do so. These students are recommended for study without regard to gender, nationality, religion or ethnicity. In the United States, ISP works with colleges and universities to secure tuition waivers or full scholarships, and with local communities to build support groups for each student.

Capoeira is inseparable from community, and inseparable from social inclusion. At heart it is a group of people playing together and respecting one another. There are no winners or losers in Capoeira. It creates its own unique environment of mutual support and respect where kids can connect and play with one another, as well as their trainers. Regular and consistent experience of this kind of environment is of paramount importance to psychosocial development for kids from excluded groups like refugees as many have lost this. This is what we provide.

DOX BOX is a non-for-profit organisation aimed at supporting documentary filmmakers from the Arab World. DOX BOX objectives are to: re-build and active and independent community of documentary filmmakers from the Arab World, based on solidarity and trust; to empower this community through networking and support schemes; to support the completion and promotion of documentaries; and to celebrate and acknowledge the achievements of this community on the regional and international level. DOX BOX was launched in 2008 as the Independent and international Documentary film Festival in Syria. It used to run as of the 1st Wednesday of March annually in Damascus, Aleppo, Homs and Tartous. Established by PROACTION FILM it hosted local and international creative documentary films with free-admission to public screenings. The festival had an Industry Section, which ran three parallel events TABADOL for industry professionals, CAMPUS for Doc Project Development & financing, and TAKWEEN for up-and-coming filmmakers. In 2012, the festival was withheld in objection to the extreme violation of human-rights in Syria. In 2014, DOX BOX emerges as a not-for-profit organization in Europe - DOX BOX e.V. to support Syrian and Regional Arab documentary filmmakers and activists.
