El reclutamiento y selección de personal es el proceso en el cual las empresas contratan al talento adecuado para ocupar un puesto, por ello es de vital importancia tener una estrategia y planeación de reclutamiento, ya que sin el capital humano necesario, ninguna compañía puede ser competitiva. Dentro de la planeación estratégica las empresas deben incluir el reclutamiento y selección de personal. Usualmente son las áreas de Recursos Humanos (RR.HH.) las responsables de realizar esta planeación, sin embargo, existen casos en que no se cuenta con este departamento, por lo que el reclutamiento recae en los líderes de las áreas que necesitan de nuevos trabajadores. La mejor forma de solucionar la falta de tiempo o recursos para la atracción y contratación de talento es a través de la alianza con una agencia de reclutamiento y selección de personal que provea de herramientas y experiencia necesarias para encontrar el talento adecuado. Diferencias entre el reclutamiento y la selección de personal Aunque se trata de dos conceptos que van de la mano, existen diferencias que todo encargado de este procedimiento debe conocer para llevarlo a cabo de la mejor manera. El reclutamiento es una etapa inicial, mientras que la selección de personal es una de las fases finales. Para el reclutamiento no es necesaria una acción coordinada del área de Recursos Humanos; por ejemplo, muchas veces son los candidatos los que llegan por su cuenta tocando las puertas de una empresa. En cambio, para un proceso de selección de personal sí es indispensable la coordinación con el departamento de RR.HH. La fase de reclutamiento es de evaluación, mientras que en la de selección se ejecutan acciones y tácticas para finalmente incorporar al nuevo talento.
