Savage Production Society
We tell our stories sourcing traditional and contemporary Indigenous perspectives We develop work that reflects our world view, sourcing stories and cosmologies and contemporary realities as Indigenous people for both professional and community settings The process we use draws on a lands-based approach to the dramaturgy of the plays we create. Traditional storytelling protocols require the person(s) telling the story to know where each story comes from and the land it references. The process of creating stories engages with the land as a starting point. This involves learning the traditional importance of these places from elders Savage Society was created to be a vehicle through which the members could produce our own stories as practising Theatre and Film Artists of Indigenous descent Cultural Context “Savage” carries a negative connotation in western society which has abhorred the natural state of the world, endeavoring to dominate, confine, and exploit it rather than to live with or in support of it. We see Savage as meaning humanity in its natural state, humanity in nature. Savages are angry that modern society is brutal and barbarous, with a history of fiercely attacking The People as we seek to live in our natural state. Savage Society seeks to attack fiercely ignorance and preconceived notions. Vancouver Fringe
The Vancouver Fringe Theatre Society was formed in 1983 with a mission to produce ‘theatre for everyone’ in Vancouver and beyond. The society initiated its first Fringe Festival in 1985, which over 35 years later, has gone on to become the largest theatre festival in BC. Since then, Vancouver Fringe is proud to have established itself as a leading force in the BC arts community, and a permanent fixture in Vancouver’s annual events calendar. The Fringe employs an ‘everyone is welcome’ selection technique. Each year, applicants are thrown into a lottery draw geared at providing all artists, from novice to veteran, equal chance to participate. The Fringe strives to break down traditional boundaries and encourages open dialogue between audiences and artists by presenting live un-juried, uncensored theatre in an accessible and informal environment. All artists receive 100% of regular box office revenues generated during the Festival. The Fringe revels in its identity as half theatre/half party, with artists, audiences, and volunteers alike invited to take part in an array of live music and performances. The Fringe also features some of Vancouver’s best theatre venues, including the Revue Stage, Performance Works, and Waterfront Theatre – all situated on and around the city’s cultural and creative hub, Granville Island. The ‘Bring Your Own Venue’ (BYOV) category uniquely allows artists to stage original work in unconventional places, including site-specific locations both indoors and out. Regardless of location, the Fringe has always embodied a passion for entertainment without boundaries, and today sees visitor numbers in excess of facilitated by over 500 volunteers that graciously support the Society in making its mission a reality.

Adult Recreational Choirs Arc
Established in 2002, the Adult Recreational Choirs are dedicated to awakening, nurturing and sharing the magic of voices in harmony. Today, more than 250 men and women from all walks of life participate in an ARC's non-auditioned choir. Each season, ARC shares its unique brand of choral entertainment with the community in the annual "Something Christmas" production, and the season finale in June. Beyond great music, costuming, choreography, professional lighting and brilliant staging are ARC's signatures. Blue Canoe Theatrical Productions Inc
Blue Canoe is a youth run theatre company and a non-profit organization. The company was founded on December 13, 2006 by a group of High School Students from Regi, a High School in Kingston. It was incorporated in November 2011 as a non-profit organization in Ontario. The goal of Blue Canoe is to create opportunities for youth in Kingston, Ontario who are between the ages of 13-30 to explore their interest in theatre and the arts. Every production has youth in each of the roles on a production, which helps young people to explore the arts by participating on stage, off stage, in design, production, direction, producing and event planning. Recently Blue Canoe has expanded to offering opportunities in other areas in the arts with programs such as the Viva Voce, a partnership with the Kingston Frontenac Public Library, a storytelling coffeehouse for youth to tell their stories in a variety of ways. A cabaret evening called Songs & Spirits which features music themed together for a night at Blu Martini. And now the Juvenis Festival, Kingston's first youth arts festival.
