Pivot. Arts & Venue Consulting
PIVOT. is the result of two friends who first met in 2008, during their first year in a Bachelor of Arts in Dance at the University of Calgary. Grinding through undergrad, Alèn and Alisa saw gaps in the arts and how thinly resources were, and continue to be stretched. But upon graduation, each co-founder pursued separate arts and administration focused education and careers. Keeping in touch while working and studying around the country and internationally, the idea was born about how they could best impact the arts with their education and experiences. Their careers eventually reunited them in Calgary. Again, the conversations turned to how they could participate in developing the Canadian arts sector. And from that PIVOT. was created. PIVOT. is the arts management and venue consulting group that lives immersed in the arts world, bringing its knowledge and experience to its clients in order to find the best arts centred experience.

Talisman Theatre
Talisman Theatre is a Montreal-based, award-winning nonprofit theatre company, driven by its mission to stage cutting-edge and authentic English-language translations and premieres of contemporary Québec plays. Since its foundation in 2005, it has filled more than seats for live performances. Talisman has two unique strengths that allow it to bring Quebec plays to English-speaking theatre goers: 1) retaining the essence of traditional Quebec theatrical practices as part of its hybrid development process; and 2) developing a talented bi-lingual team of actors, artists, and technicians, with a distinctive artistic approach. Believing in the power of theatre to inspire a more equitable and inclusive society, Talisman’s engagement is intercultural; working with contemporary issues and building commonality between all Montrealers, no matter their background. The goal is to bring the full experience of contemporary Quebec life to anglophone and allophone communities, whether newcomers to Canada or Montreal-born, all while stimulating dialogue between Montreal’s cultural minorities and Quebec’s Francophonie. Talisman takes pride in producing socially aware art that fosters a more inclusive society. Each year, the team at Talisman chooses a new social justice theme to explore on the stage. By amplifying the stories and perspectives of historically marginalized groups, our plays change the way audiences see themselves and each other.

VIVA offers diverse musical programming - including regular performance and international touring opportunities, chorister composition collaborations, digital musical literacy, Orff - based creation activities, and commissioned works and partnerships with distinguished musicians and composers. Ongoing partnerships include those with The National Ballet of Canada, The Toronto Consort, Jumblies Theatre, and Trinity-St. Paul’s Centre for Faith, Justice and the Arts. VIVA’s Choral Mentoring and Leadership Program provides young leaders and aspiring educators with opportunities to assist and instruct singers of all ages and needs. This unique program is essential to VIVA’s structure, as from it are drawn Teaching Assistants, Conductors and Vocal Coaches to work with singers in most of our choirs. VIVA’s responsive pedagogy and innovative approach is readily adaptable for "at home learning". Our seven choirs bring people of all ages, all abilities, and all levels of musical experience together through the power of choral music. We continue to push boundaries by applying current research in vocal pedagogy (including transgender voices, changing adolescent voices, supporting aging voices, etc.), vocal music education, inclusion studies, and academia to best meet the needs of our singers. At the heart of VIVA’s family of choirs is the Every Voice Matters Chorus, a chorus of teens and adults with disabilities. We continue to advocate for all voices, and push for inclusivity to ensure that anyone who enjoys music is welcomed.
