The Vancouver International Dance Festival was launched in with the objective of putting Vancouver on the international map of dance. Now in its 24th year, the VIDF has presented 328 dance artists/companies to more than people. We celebrate and focus on the diversity of contemporary dance expression, its individuality, and its astonishing capacity for touching one’s heart and soul. Our mission is to build audiences and appreciation for equity-seeking contemporary dance artists and marginalized contemporary dance practices through programming a spectrum of kinetically exciting work that broadens definitions of the form.

Vancouver Tap Dance Society envisions spaces in which the cultural values of growth, care, cooperation, excellence, and grace, are experienced, engendered, and expressed with joy through the physical practice of tap dance and related cultural arts. This is achieved through the activities of training for all levels, ages, and body types; sharing the arts and celebrating unique voices in performance; and producing events designed to gather communities together. VanTap does this through fulfilling our mandate which includes: 1. Dance Academy: The Academy provides dance classes for dancers of all ages, levels, and body types throughout the year at various levels of engagement. VanTap Fest: our annual festival dedicated to spreading the joy of tap dance and providing dancers with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn from many internationally-renowned guest artists, and presenting audiences with premiere performances. TapCo: The Society’s elite youth tap ensemble. TapCo carries repertoire ranging from classic to contemporary pieces, and tours British Columbia schools with an educational show about tap dance. Outreach Program: Leveraging the faculty of and students trained by the Academy, the Society’s Outreach Program provides classes to hundreds of children each year by partnering with local schools.

The Chai Folk Arts Council is the governing body of the Sarah Sommer Chai Folk Ensemble - widely acclaimed as North America's largest and oldest Israeli folk dance group. Founded in 1964 by the late Sarah Sommer, Chai has built an international reputation for the unique blend of world music, dance and song that gives it its name.Hebrew for "alive". A truly all-encompassing Jewish cultural experience, Chai is made up of 40 dancers, singers and musicians. Chai's repertoire includes music and dance from virtually every corner of the world where Jewish culture has existed, including Israel, Morocco, Spain, Greece, Russia, Poland, Brazil and Africa. From traditional horas to the mysterious harmonies and rhythms of the Orient, from lively Klezmer standards to the latest Israeli hits, Chai brings to life the best of Jewish culture in every performance.
