Alberta Foundation For The Arts
The AFA exists to encourage and support the arts as a significant contributor to quality of life in Alberta. The Alberta Foundation for the Arts is a public agency and a provincial corporation of the Government of Alberta with a mandate to support and contribute to the development of the arts in Alberta. We provide grant funding to artists and art organizations to encourage the growth and development of the arts sector. We also promote the arts and manage an extensive provincial art collection featuring work from artists all over the province.

Chor Leoni
Chor Leoni is one of the most active and popular volunteer choral ensembles in North America. With stylistic grace, an adventurous spirit and a deep dedication to its community, Vancouver’s Singing Lions have enriched and transformed people’s lives through singing for more than three decades. In 2019 Chor Leoni received the Margaret Hillis Award for Choral Excellence from the professional choral organization, Chorus America. The award recognizes artistic excellence, contributions to the choral art form and organizational stability over a long period of time, and may only be awarded once in an ensemble’s lifetime. The choir has been honoured with many other national and international awards, including five 1st place awards in the CBC National Radio Competition for Amateur Choirs. In 2016 Chor Leoni’s CD recording Wandering Heart received a perfect five-star rating from the UK’s prestigious Choir and Organ magazine and was a featured CD for Minnesota Public Radio and WFMT Chicago. Chor Leoni performs around 20 concerts each season across seven unique programs and brings its music to the world through a popular series of free concert films as well as regional and international tours. The choir has traveled across North America, Czechia, Bosnia, Italy, Indonesia and Singapore where it has shared its music and performed in some of the world’s most noted concert halls and festivals. Chor Leoni champions new music and has commissioned hundreds of pieces, ranging from pop and folksong arrangements to modern works. The ensemble has commissioned works by notable composers such as Ēriks Ešenvalds, Jocelyn Morlock, Melissa Dunphy, and many others. Chor Leoni is fortunate and privileged to sing on the unceded traditional territory of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations.
