The Port Theatre
Everyone can enjoy livestreaming, whether you’re in Nanaimo or on the other side of the world! Live events are an important part of the cultural and economic fabric of Canada and our community. Like so many industries, the pandemic hit theatres hard as we were the first to shut down and will be one of the last to return to our full capacity of 800-seats. The Port Theatre has invested in excellent livestreaming technology and trained our staff in new ways because our industry is evolving. Showcasing important artistic work in a time of a pandemic, bringing some of the very best to our community and streaming it back out to the world, is inspiring and uplifting. Diversity is one of our core values. The Port Theatre Society is proud to be accessible and responsive to all segments of the population. We continue to expand our community outreach and ensure access and collaboration with people from all cultures, ages, races and genders. Theatre Of The Beat
Theatre of the Beat (TOTB) is a Canadian touring theatre company working to catalyze conversations on social justice and its intersection with the beliefs of the communities in which we find ourselves. Since 2011, Theatre of the Beat has been staging change across North America (and recently The Netherlands) by creating original social justice theatre and workshops for underrepresented populations. Through an immersive cultural exchange of grassroots theatre, hospitality, and philosophy, the company empowers its audience to work towards a just future. We create and perform original theatre across Canada (and USA), host talk backs, spark discussions, and teach workshops. Founded by Johnny Wideman in 2011, Theatre of the Beat first hit the stage when it produced Rebecca Steiner's Gadfly: Sam Steiner Dodges the Draft in partnership with Conrad Grebel University College. Since that premiere, Theatre of the Beat has written, produced and toured over 10 different plays, created and facilitated multiple workshops around the themes of restorative justice, consent and social change. We have also gone on to partner with NGOs and Community Groups across Canada, all while employing a five person staff. Theatre of the Beat has performed over 350 shows, to over people in theatres, festivals, churches, universities, and prisons throughout (almost) every Canadian province (we are still waiting on you Newfoundland!), The United States and The Netherlands.

Vancouver Chamber Choir
Canada’s longest-running professional vocal ensemble, the Vancouver Chamber Choir has performed across the country and internationally since the choir’s formation in 1971. The choir presents a full concert season, tours, performs in broadcasts and recordings, and offers five highly acclaimed educational programs.
