Cheshire Community Foundation
Cheshire Community Foundation has at its heart, “Making Cheshire Better”. We to do 3 unique things that set us apart; inspire local philanthropy, build local endowment and get money to local grass roots organisations. Cheshire Community Foundation helps people who want to give back to the places in which they live and do business by connecting them to the local community and helping them invest in that community in an intelligent and impactful way. We serve Cheshire East, Cheshire West and Chester and Warrington as a partner in philanthropy and a resource in community development. Cheshire is one of the most affluent counties in England but we see a story of great wealth that lives next door to, sometimes extreme, poverty and deprivation. There are housing estates on the edge of wealthy villages with high levels of unemployment, low educational attainment, high crime rates, poor health and a high density of houses in poor environments. Cheshire is one of the most generous counties in terms of philanthropy with many people doing a great deal for good causes but often that support isn’t given locally. Philanthropy makes a really big difference when given locally because it is targeted precisely at the people and communities who need it most. By supporting local charities and community groups you can make our communities stronger and enrich lives and you can really see the difference your money makes.

Muslim Engagement And Development
MEND is a not-for-profit company that was founded to help empower and encourage British Muslims within local communities to be more actively involved in British media, politics and democracy. British Muslims have remained on the margins of public and political debate about their religion and place in modern Britain for too long and the level of Muslim participation in media and politics remains woefully low. MEND seeks to enable British Muslims to engage more effectively with political and media institutions and play a greater role in British politics and society by instilling confidence, competence and awareness. Enhancing mainstream participation by communities that are under-represented and vulnerable is an important step towards deepening and strengthening our democracy. MEND will encourage voter registration and political engagement by British Muslims so that through civic involvement Muslims can responsibly exercise their duty in working for the common good. MEND aims to equip Muslims with the skills, resources and materials necessary for them to play a more active role in society. MEND believes that all citizens have a responsibility to contribute to the positive and sustained development of a Britain in which all members of society are valued and respected whatever their religious, racial or ethnic background, gender or sexual orientation. MEND endeavours to enable active citizenship and participation by British Muslims in furtherance of its aims to create a more inclusive and tolerant Britain. MEND aims to provide commentary and analysis on the high volumes of news content and coverage that maligns Islam and Muslims and foments Islamophobia in the UK and across Europe. MEND aims to work with Muslim and non Muslim organisations to ensure that anti-Muslim prejudice is regarded just as socially unacceptable as anti-Semitism and other forms of racism and xenophobia.

Room To Heal
At the heart of our work lies the cultivation of a healing community through which people can overcome the legacy of trauma. This sits alongside an integrated programme of therapeutic and casework assistance. We work at depth and intensity over the long-term to support each individual in their journey towards healing and to help them to integrate into the UK. We assist and we advocate. We do this because we believe in a world where human rights are respected, where those who are persecuted for their beliefs are supported, and their plight publicised. Our community, based in Islington, is made up of people from 30 countries, of all ages and religions, united by a common belief in humanity and respect for human rights. We provide people with a broad spectrum of support, from physical and psychological therapy to practical assistance with housing, legal protection and related challenges. Everything we do is intended to build and nurture the healing community that lies at the heart of our work. Our members see Room to Heal as their family in the UK, the place which they can rely on, the place where they belong. That means a lot when set against the backdrop of loss and trauma, broken trust, marginalisation and isolation people typically face in their daily lives.
