photo.circle was established in 2007 as a platform for emerging and professional photographers in Nepal, that creates opportunities for learning and skill development and creates space for photographers to exhibit, publish and market their work. photo.circle offers workshops with local and visiting resource persons for photographers of various skill levels including professionals, amateurs as well as beginners at the school and college levels. In an effort to encourage discourse around photography, photo.circle hosts monthly presentations where photographers showcase their work and engage in discussions with an audience. These presentations and discussions work towards developing visual literacy and a culture of critique. Through this website, active mailing list and informal networking, photo.circle strives to build a strong community of visual storytellers that continuously creates, shares and learns.

TELL REAL STORIES™ with your photography. Once a year, a group of like-minded people from all over the world gather in Kathmandu to tell real stories with photography. This is the philosophy behind Kathmandu INSIDE:OUT (fondly known as “KIO™”) – a photography masterclass like no other. As a masterclass participant, you will invest a full week into crafting your own unique story – conceiving, shooting, editing, and learning how to overcome problems photographing in a foreign country. You will also be partnered with a KIO™ Buddy, your dedicated local companion, who will walk with you on this journey of discovery and cultural immersion. Founded by international photojournalist Edwin Koo, KIO™ was born from a desire to share the great storytelling potential of photography with others. In 2008, Edwin moved to Kathmandu to live and work there for 2 years, during which he created some of his most phenomenal work. In 2012, he returned to Kathmandu and founded the KIO™ photography masterclass.
