Boise City Ada County Housing Authorities
The Boise City Housing Authority was created in 1967. The original purpose of establishing the housing authority was to provide “low-income housing for the aged.” The first properties developed by the Boise City Housing Authority were two sets of high rise apartment complexes built in 1970 through the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Low Rent Public Housing Program. Boise City Housing Authority still owns and manages these properties, now designated to serve people who are 62 years or older and people who have a disabling condition. In 1976, the Ada County Housing Authority was created. Though these two organizations are legally separate, we operate through a Joint Powers agreement with a single staff overseen by a Board of Commissioners appointed and confirmed by the Mayor and City Council of Boise and the Ada County Commissioners. In Ada County, we are responsible for delivering a number of federally funded programs, as well as housing authority bond financed affordable housing developments for Boise, Garden City, Eagle, Star, Meridian, and Kuna. The service area holds a population of over people and covers over 1052 square miles.

The National Living Donor Assistance Center Nldac
Our mission is to reduce the financial disincentives to living organ donation. To this end, we operate a nationwide system that provides reimbursement of travel and subsistence expenses, lost wages, and dependent care expenses to people being evaluated for and/or undergoing living organ donation. Priority is given to those who could not otherwise afford to donate. Background: Many people would like to donate an organ to a family member or friend, but would have trouble paying for related expenses—like transportation, lodging, food, and dependent care—that are not covered by insurance, especially if they lose wages during their recovery from donation surgery. The costs of the process can be a burden for donors and recipients; for some, these costs might make living organ donation impossible. The National Living Donor Assistance Center exists to provide access to transplantation for those who want to donate, but face financial barriers to doing so. This program is administered by the Division of Transplantation (DoT), Healthcare Systems Bureau (HSB), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), United States Health and Human Services (HHS) through a cooperative agreement with the University of Kansas (KU) and the American Society of Transplant Surgeons (ASTS).
