The Rise
TheRise.co.in is a digital platform based on the concept of social journalism. A not-for-profit initiative, TheRise.co.in aims at addressing the void between the masses of the country and the intellectuals contemplating about the national issues in their universities and think tanks. It is based on the concept of social journalism. It was born into this world with a vision to create an impact in the way opinions are published. We aim to build a platform exclusively for experts, be it, professors, scientists, administrators, corporate professionals, and what not! We, as a platform, envision a journalism where the opinions are written solely by the expert. This is especially significant in the present era of yellow journalism and fake news, a time when the people form their opinions based on false rationale and rumours. The experts, having a deep insight into the raging contemporary issues related to their field, can and should write on those issues to prevent the masses from falling into the grip of fake news and opinions. Our platform helps the readers get an educated viewpoint from the intellectuals having expertise in the area they are writing on. There have been many instances where a particular media house publishes only one kind of articles/ op-eds, thus, discriminating those having a differing opinion by not giving them space on their newspaper/ website. We are here to give space to every type of opinion because we believe in the principle that each opinion must be respected even if we disagree with them. The era of fake news and paid journalism has cost us dear. Democracies all across the world are finding it hard to tackle these new problems emerging with the advent of new technologies. Let’s use the power of the internet to democratise Indian journalism! Our motto is Teaming for Harmony, Equity, Reforms through Intellectually Stimulated Efforts – THE RISE. Let’s Rise Together!#therise_co_in #letsrisetogether

Paryavaran Mitra
Everyday women in Ahmedabad go out early morning, travel 8-10kms, bend atleast to collect 20kgs of dry waste. By virtue of their work, of waste reach recycling unit every single day which otherwise would have ended up in landfill, decaying for centuries adversely affecting our environment. But sadly, these women work in an informal setup getting exploited at every front of their life. Paryavaran Mitra is a social enterprise aimed at bringing holistic improvements in the life of these women using Solid Waste Management as a tool. At Paryavaran Mitra, these women are involved at each stage of waste management i.e, awareness, collection, segregation and processing. So, now they are going formally in their respective assigned areas and collect segregated waste from HHs. After collection, they come back to the waste management centers & sort the materials to finer level before finally baling or grinding or composting them. Therefore, these women are the one running the whole show. Alongside, series of social activities are done to ensure their holistic development. Health camps & insurances, local & outstation picnics, financial services, education of their kids etc. are being planned as a part of inclusiveness of this model. In course of last 5years, we have served 300+ women, facilitated recycling of 1.5+million kgs of waste, generated employment for 50+ team members, spread awareness around waste management with more than individuals and institutions etc. United Nations Development Program had been our partner supporting us in bringing this envisioned change. So, idea is to eventually have a co-operative which is by the women, of the women and for the women.
