Himalaya Rescue Dog Squad Nepal
Himalaya Rescue Dog Squad Nepal provides search & rescue teams and medical aid in the event of natural disasters such as earthquake, avalanche, flood and when trekkers are reported missing or injured. Established in October 1989 at Sundarijal, Nepal. Formerly working directly under the umbrella of Nepal's Ministry of Home, our organization is registered since April 1996 as (P)LTD at the Government of Nepal Office of the DOI. The first and only disaster unit and rescue organization in Nepal to utilize the skill of dogs to trace missing persons. Working to an altitude of 5600m in diverse and harsh conditions. From jungle gorges to vast flooded plains, searching avalanche zones our duty is always clear: to trace missing people and provide skilled medical aid to those in need. Priority number one is training! During The People's War in Nepal from 1996 until 2006, HRDSN could not continue its training of new disaster relief workers to increase her present Nepalese senior staff. Now only 45 Nepalese staff members and 9 Nepalese volunteers are left to work with. Our aim is to have a minimum of 100 Nepalese disaster relief workers standby in our mobile HRDSN Disaster Relief & Medical Aid Unit.
