The Untamed Paths

The Untamed Paths is a biodiversity-focused organisation that aims to influence the layman on the street about wildlife and one such impactful way is through a guided walk where participants see, feel and comprehend the need to understand and safeguard these spaces and the animals that thrive in it. Along the way, the end goal gets clearer and now our objectives are fully focused on biodiversity education and outreach not just in Singapore but regionally. We have since conducted numerous community intertidal walks, beach clean-ups and fireside chats where we regularly engage different communities from all walks of life about biodiversity and the need to know about them. Our education arm, Cyan - was set up to provide a space where youths and kids can drop in and attend biodiversity-focused workshops and talks while building on the interest of a kid no matter the wildlife. The regional conservation camps that serve as a platform for shedding light on unfiltered insight into a complex topic ‘ wildlife conservation’ seeks to engage ground conservation groups and learn more about the reality of conservation and the struggles that come with it. Participants contribute directly to these organisations through financing and in return, gain valuable insight into these often complicated issues and realise that often, conservation is not only about the wildlife but also the communities that live amongst the animals. As an organisation, we want to plug the gaps - ultimately forming a bridge between human and wildlife.

Snow City Singapore

Snow City is Singapore’s first permanent indoor snow centre. A family-centric attraction centre, Snow City receives an average patronage of some visitors from around the world! Our facility features a snow chamber that delivers snow experience all year round; a unique sub-zero environment that will elevate your corporate events and team building sessions to greater heights; and snow professionals that create not only fun and enriching educational programmes, but magic out of thin air as well! Launched in June and revamped in 2007, the Snow City is owned and managed by Snow Venture Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of Science Centre Holdings Pte Ltd. It has a three-storey high and 60-metres long snow slope for visitors to snow tube. It is also popular among locals and tourists who are unable to experience sub-zero temperatures back in homelands. With Snow City’s new theme, visitors will be transported to the Arctic Circle whereby they will be introduced to Snow City’s 5 new mascots (Oki, Nooka, Suki, Ila, Koko) as well as new interactive exhibits. The snow level in the Snow Chamber (snow-covered area of Snow City building) is maintained at 400mm in depth. Up to 150 tons of snow are required to cover the snow grounds and about 10 – 15 tons of snow is made each week to maintain this snow level. The amazing fact is: all this snow is produced on-site using a specially-designed snow gun! Observe the following snow-making stages: Water is atomized using high-pressure compressed air The water arrives at the snow gun and is pushed out the special nozzles at the end of the barrel Liquid Nitrogen (which freezes at the amazingly low temperature of –196 degrees Celsius) is also passed through the snow gun The extreme cold of the liquid nitrogen snap freezes the atomized water into powder-like snowflakes.
