Carlton Power Limited
Carlton Power Group is an independent, UK energy development company formed in 1995, with offices in Stokesley, North Yorkshire and Edinburgh. We have an excellent track record of developing gas-fired energy projects in the UK and Europe (we have delivered over 3.5 GW of high efficiency CCGTs), and in recent years our development activities have moved into green hydrogen, PV solar, and battery storage (Li-ion and CRYO). Our first phase of green hydrogen projects - at Barrow-in-Furness in Cumbria, at Trafford in Greater Manchester and Langage, near Plymouth - were successful in Round One of the UK Department of Energy Security & Net Zero Government’s Hydrogen Allocation Round (HAR1 – December 2023), and we are developing additional green hydrogen projects in other parts of the UK. Our green hydrogen projects will assist the UK to achieve its net zero targets by enabling industrial off takers, like Kraft Heinz (at Wigan) and Kimberly-Clark (at Barrow-in-Furness), to transition away from using natural gas in their operations. Our projects will also stimulate further investment in renewable energy generation, thereby supporting the greening of the electricity grid. Our projects also have the potential to provide an alternative fuel for industrial related transportation and low carbon public transport. Whilst our battery storage projects provide flexibility and security to the grid. As an integrated developer, owner and operator of low carbon generating assets, we are uniquely placed with our multi-disciplinary, experienced team to consider all aspects of energy development – planning, permitting, procurement, financing, construction and operation. As the UK strives towards a low carbon economy, with ambitious net zero targets to meet, our work is supporting the country’s energy transition by continuing to provide renewable and low-carbon energy infrastructure, while maintaining safe supply and grid support to the electricity network.
