Alle transgender personen, of ze nu medische zorg wensen of niet, maar ook familieleden, werkgevers, onderwijspersoneel, hulpverleners. kunnen bij het TIP terecht voor informatie over of ondersteuning voor identiteitsvragen, zorg, werkgerelateerde aspecten, rechten, discriminatie en meer. We bieden gratis en anoniem een warm onthaal en wetenschappelijk onderbouwde informatie aan. We zijn tevens een lokaal meldpunt voor discriminatie op basis van geslacht, geslachtsverandering, genderidentiteit, genderexpressie en seksekenmerken.

The main focus is on interaction between the taxonomic and functional composition of the microbiota, and the host, and how this is influenced by environmental triggers, dietary compounds, and pathogens. This has consequences for understanding the pathobiology of diseases, improving animal performance, and development of diagnostic and preventive strategies for intestinal diseases.

Sunergy - Fossil-Free Fuels And Chemicals For A Climate-Neutral Europe

SUNERGY vision is to enable a circular economy by making fuels, base chemicals for industry and agriculture, and developing negative CO2 emission technologies using resources that are abundant in Europe (renewable energies, CO2, H2O and N2 ). SUNER-C is the recent Coordination and Support Action (CSA) powered by SUNERGY Community and funded by the EU programme Horizon Europe. SUNER-C is the tool employed by SUNERGY Community to develop and expand the innovation ecosystem for solar fuels and chemicals, uniting science, business, societal and other relevant stakeholders. This aggregation aims at developing a common vision and a technological roadmap for accelerating the scale-up of technologies, as key elements towards the EU 2050 target of net-zero emissions. SUNERGY aims to become a co-programmed public private partnership in Horizon Europe. We urge to complement the scope of existing European partnerships and enable the full decoupling of economic growth from the utilization of resources at the local, regional, national and European levels for a sustainable resilient growing economy, leaving no one behind. While current partnerships mainly focus on improvements on the demand side, SUNERGY proposes a pipeline of high impact technologies that boost efficiency on the supply side by making fuels, base chemicals for industry and agriculture, and developing negative CO2 emission technologies using resources abundant in Europe (renewable energies, CO2, H2O and N2 ) to enable a circular economy.

End-Of-Life Care Research Group

The End-of-Life Care Research Group conducts high-quality scientific research in end-of-life care in Belgium and across Europe. Researchers from different scientific backgrounds work in a common research structure to facilitate interdisciplinary collaborative research. The group is spearheaded by a number of experienced researchers and strives to optimize the training and support of junior researchers in order to expand future expertise in end-of-life care research. The research group also aims to achieve maximum dissemination of its research findings through scientific publications, conferences, professional organizations and the popular media. This means our research leads to the improvement of medical training and education, of end-of-life care practice and organization, and of political and institutional policy.

Energy Systems Integration & Modeling Research Group

We develop models that can be divided into four main categories: • Operational models: Optimization models for the operation of electricity generation systems are developed and deployed. A Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP) framework is typically used for these Unit Commitment (UC) type problems. In terms of model development, the focus lies on improving the thermo-mechanical link, taking into account unpredictability in reserve sizing/allocation/activation, including new technologies (e.g, power-to-gas, thermal systems in buildings), integrating supply and demand side, and improving computational efficiency (e.g, tight problem formulation, parallel computing). • Expansion planning models: For energy planning and scenario analyses, long term models like TIMES are used. The technical operational detail of such planning models is increased, aiming to effectively bridge the gap between detailed operational models (unit commitment type) and long term energy technology planning models. • Equilibrium models: Equilibrium models describe the interactions of various (market) actors in the liberalized electric power sector (e.g, consumers, generators, policymakers). These models are used to analyze the impact of strategic behavior and market power on electricity markets, as well as the effect of market design or policy interventions on the electric power systems' performance. • Agent-based models: Agent-based models describe the electricity system as a complex adaptive system. This modeling approach captures the complex interactions among the physical infrastructure, the actors' behavior, and the institutions that govern those behaviors in a power system. Agent-based models are used to provide insights into, e.g, strategic behavior in electricity markets or the adoption of distributed energy resources, as well as to analyze the effect of policy interventions on the evolution of the electric power system.
