Star Project
The STAR project (Support Training Activities on the data protection Reform) is a two-year project that aims at providing support to the training activities of EU Data Protection Authorities (DPAs) and Data Protection Officers (DPOs) on the EU data protection reform, especially the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The GDPR requires DPAs and DPOs to undertake training activities. Developing such materials in isolation increases the overall cost and risks undermining the harmonising effect of the GDPR. STAR will provide DPAs and DPOs with ready-made, easy-to-customise, and easy-to-run training materials. In particular, the STAR research group will- identify the training topics in cooperation with stakeholders- develop the training materials- validate and test them in pilot trainings. While the exact format of the training materials will be refined with the stakeholders, the following will at least be included- training scenarios- a Seminars’ Topics List- seminar materials for each one of the seminars- webinars- a training Handbook- a takeaway reference GDPR checklist- a ten-point GDPR introductory list; All project outputs will be freely and publicly available in a digital form. While STAR is directly addressed to EU DPAs and DPOs, it also offers a benefit to other privacy professionals in the EU and beyond. Being-Wise
The always-connected world we are living in, gives us an unprecedented plethora of new advanced services and automated applications requiring, more and more, less human intervention due to the increased integration of Machine Learning (ML), Artificial Intelligence (AI) approaches and sophisticated emerging wireless technologies. On the other side, this connected world opens new breaches and creates new potential vulnerabilities for smart advanced cyber-attacks, namely attacks and offender relying on ML/AI and advanced wireless technology integration, to make their attack more effective and less detectable. If an increasing awareness by the users could help to contrast the security issues, it is not sufficient against the new generation of cyber-attacks. In this context, a drastic paradigm shift, putting human-being in the loop for the conception of novel and more effective cyber-security solutions, must be considered. Human-beings have a double role in the cyber-connected world: as potential offender and potential victim. The focus of BEiNG-WISE will be on how these different human-being features can be combined with the advanced technological characteristics, in order to conceive non-conventional, responsible by design, cyber-security solutions accounting for both these factors. In this complex connected system, another fundamental aspect that needs to be accounted to, is the legal one, related to the conception of solutions that can be effectively employed in the real world. Also, legal aspects should be considered at the design stage. The Action relies on cross-domains expertise, ranging from cybersecurity, wireless communication technology, data science, sociology, psychology and law.

Esdppp
ESDP was founded in 1988 by paediatricians and pharmacologists under the leadership of Professor Jean-Pierre Guignard from Lausanne. The first congress was held in Les Diablerets in Switzerland. Aims of the Society- Better Medicines for Children - Scientific work in the field of Developmental Perinatal and Paediatric Pharmacology - Improving Research and Access to Children`s Medicines Worldwide - Works closely with: European Medicines Agency (EMA), International Union of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology (IUPHAR), World Health Organization (WHO) The primary aim of the Society is to promote research in the field of paediatric pharmacology and to offer a forum for exchanges between pharmacologists and clinical physicians about more adequate drug administration in this population. Indeed, there are major differences between children and adults in terms of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of the drugs. Moreover, these differences vary with the age of children, due to the maturation process. Children have the same rights to medicines as adults and, as a consequence, all members of this Society have to bring up a contribution to keep anybody aware of the urgent need of adequate clinical trials in the paediatric population. Presently, 1/3 of outpatient children, 2/3 of children in hospital, 9/10 of children in intensive care units receive drugs that are prescribed in an unlicensed or off-label manner. Most of the time, ethical reason has been claimed outside from the pharmaceutical industry to explain the lack of clinical trials in children but the economic reason has been kept silent! At the opposite, prescribing to children drugs that have not been properly evaluated in their age group has to be felt unethical!

Forest-Based Sector Technology Platform Ftp
The forest-based sector includes all stakeholders with a major interest in forestry, forest-based materials and products. It also provides essential products and services for a more sustainable society. It accounts for 8% of manufacturing added value in the EU, using a renewable and continuously growing forest resource, counting 16 million private forest owners and providing nearly four million jobs. FTP provides a forum for European forest owners, companies, researchers, regulators and financial institutions to work together in support of the development of new forest management schemes, products, services and business models. To achieve significant breakthroughs through innovation, the sector needs access to financial capacity and basic scientific knowledge that is rarely available within one organisation or company. A critical mass of skills and resources is needed to break down barriers to innovation. Creating this critical mass is one of the prime purposes of the FTP. In common with the Technology Platforms for other sectors, FTP is charged with defining a strategic Vision Document on behalf of the sector and agreeing on research priorities, set out in a Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRA). These priorities help inform EU research funding programmes, which in turn will support the implementation of the SRA, along with other sources of public and private funding.
