Morwick G360 Groundwater Research Institute
Morwick G360 is based at the University of Guelph. Morwick G360 follows a scientific approach that relies on comprehensive field data sets that are multi-disciplinary and high resolution for the formulation of process-based site conceptual models. This scientific approach, by necessity, requires multiple lines of evidence and multiple sites to account for natural variation and scientific uncertainty, and has led to the development of a Discrete Fracture Network (DFN) Field approach for site characterization monitoring and modeling for defining groundwater flow and contaminant transport and fate in fractured bedrock and heterogeneous sedimentary aquifer systems. Our vision is to generate global respect for groundwater through field research. Our mission is is to enable evidence-informed groundwater resource stewardship by providing a world class research institute of excellence for training and collaboration to advance knowledge, professional practice, and policy. Our strategy is to conduct field-based groundwater research in three main areas: aged industrial contaminated sites; groundwater resource protection for drinking water supplies; and potential impacts to surface water and groundwater from upstream unconventional oil and gas development to generate valuable hydrological advances in technology and scientific understanding.

The Canada Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Research Network (CanFASD) is a collaborative, interdisciplinary research network, with collaborators, researchers and partners across the nation. It is Canada’s first comprehensive national Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) research network. It started as an alliance of seven jurisdictions and operated for seven years as the Canada Northwest FASD Research Network. CanFASD’s unique partnership brings together many scientific viewpoints to address complexities of FASD, with a focus of ensuring that research knowledge is translated to community and policy action. Our mission is to produce and maintain national, collaborative research designed for sharing with all Canadians, leading to prevention strategies and improved support services for people affected by Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. Working in partnership across the country – CanFASD is collaborating with national entities concerned with FASD, including the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), Health Canada and NeuroDevNet. PHAC is the government of Canada agency responsible for public health in Canada and they fund a number of programs and activity related to FASD. Today, CanFASD researchers are currently taking part in almost all of the FASD research projects across Canada that are supported by PHAC. CanFASD researcher are currently leading 25 major projects related to FASD prevention, intervention and diagnostics. CanFASD connects researchers, graduate students and practitioners from communities and institutions across Canada, and internationally. CanFASD is not a funding body nor can it provide direct services.

Centre For Heart Lung Innovation Hli
The Centre for Heart Lung Innovation (HLI) housed within Providence Health Care's St. Paul's Hospital in the heart of downtown Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The HLI (previously the James Hogg Research Centre) is a University of British Columbia (UBC) Senate-approved centre of cardiovascular, pulmonary, and critical care expertise. Our research activities and programs have grown rapidly since the establishment of the fledgling pulmonary laboratory in 1977 when Dr. Jim Hogg, along with Dr. Peter Paré and Lisa Baile were recruited to St. Paul's Hospital to open the Pulmonary Research Laboratory. Expansion of the focus to include cardiovascular and critical care research occurred in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s with the recruitment of Drs. Mike Allard, Keith Walley, Jim Russell, and Bruce McManus. The growing laboratory was renamed the McDonald Research Laboratories (MRL) when the Cardiovascular Research Laboratory (1993) and the Atherosclerosis Specialty Laboratories (1995) joined the research environment. In 2004 the Centre expanded to its modern footprint with the infusion of $21 million of infrastructure funding from the Canada Foundation for Innovation, the BCKDF, and a major contribution from the Blusson fund. In 2013, the Centre updated its existing facilities with the addition of a further $7.3 Million of infrastructure funding from the Canadian Foundation for Innovation and partnership funding from the St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation. The Centre rebranded itself as the Centre for Heart Lung Innovation (HLI) to reflect the world leading research that is conducted by the ~250 personnel now working within the Centre towards solving the problems of heart, lung, and blood vessel diseases.
