Center For Cryptoeconomics
The Center for Cryptoeconomics provides economic research and consulting services related to blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies. Our mission is to build a better understanding of the economics of these technologies and their applications. We do this by producing and publishing basic and applied economic research from respected academics and experts and educating developers, corporates, policymakers and the media about the economics of blockchain technology. RESEARCH We conduct research on all aspects of cryptoeconomics. Our main research areas are the economic mechanisms in blockchains and other distributed ledger technologies, the economics of blockchain applications and the economics of smart contracts and property. CONSULTING The Center for Cryptoeconomics provides consulting services and training to corporates who find their existing business model challenged by decentralized computing technologies or who would like to explore their opportunities. We also advise start-ups in analyzing and designing mechanisms and incentives for blockchain-based token-economies. Our economic consultants assist you in the following areas: Economic mechanisms in blockchains Consensus mechanisms in Blockchains involve a range of different economic agents. Using approaches from game theory and mechanism design, we test whether the incentives induce players to behave as it is intended. Economics of blockchain applications Blockchain technology has three different layers: cryptocurrencies, smart properties, and smart contracts. Together, we analyze the potential of different blockchain applications in your business and derive concrete fields of activity. Climact
The CLIMACT center, established in 2021 through a collaboration between the University of Lausanne (UNIL) and the EPFL, will cease operations on 31 December 2024. This decision follows the two institutions’ agreement not to extend the partnership beyond the initial term. While the Center is closing, ongoing projects will continue, and efforts in sustainability and climate action will be carried forward by initiatives such as the Competence Centre in Sustainability (CCD), the Expertise Center for Climate Extremes (ECCE), and EPFL’s new Vice Presidency for Strategic Development. Forimtech S.A. was founded in 2004 in Geneva (Switzerland). With more than 30 years of research experience in the field of particle detectors at CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research), the founders decided to apply their know-how to the market of medical devices. The company has devoted the first years on research and development with the principal goal to implement most recent developments in the field of particle physics into molecular imaging in medical applications. The technical and commercial advantages of novel technologies have been clearly proven in a number of national and international projects, and several patent applications were deposited by Forimtech. In 2009 Forimtech entered a new phase – bringing its products to the market. This activity is supported by a grant from CTI (Swiss Commission for Innovative Technologies) in the framework of its “Science to Market” program. In 2014 Forimtech started clinical trials in partnership with CHUV. In 2015 the company successfully obtained CE mark for two products.

It has founded Provenance Proof, offering tracing and tracking solutions for gemstones all along the value chain from mine to market. Iwmpi - International Workshop On Magnetic Particle Imaging
The International Workshop on Magnetic Particle Imaging (IWMPI) is the premier platform for magnetic nanoparticle imaging, nanoparticle spectroscopy, nanoparticle-based therapy, and nanoparticle tracking. Researchers, developers, manufacturers and users of this new method of medical imaging are invited to attend and contribute to the conference by presenting your current research results and showcasing your developments. In March 2023, we are excited that the IWMPI will be hosted by the University of Aachen. After the digital events of 2020 and 2022, we look forward to meeting in person. For this upcoming IWMPI, March 22-24, 2023, we expect more than 200 participants from 20 countries as well as a record number of scientific contributions to talks and posters. The workshop will provide not only the opportunity to present research work and results, but also new ideas and directions in the field of MPI to a highly interested audience of scientific, medical and application experts from universities, clinical and commercial sites, active in the field. Our mission was to develop new tools and approaches derived from chemistry in order to understand, visualize and control biological processes. Our research efforts led to nearly 700 original peer-reviewed papers, seminal discoveries of important chemical tools and several startups with potential therapeutics. The technology-driven platforms that were developed by the NCCR remain in their important role for excellent research, fast progress, training and networking of researchers. Our flagship interdisciplinary educational programme also continues as the backbone of a new initiative: the Swiss Network for Interdisciplinary Education in Chemical Biology!
