Chair Of China Business And Economics Cbe
China’s economy is a fascinating field of study for students and scholars alike. A shift in the drivers of economic growth, the centrally orchestrated transition from a planned to a market economy, as well as its opening to global markets have been particularly influential for China's modernization experience over the past decades. Today, China is an important destination for and source of foreign direct investment; Chinese firms compete for influence in global value chains, financial markets and technological leadership. At the same time, in the face of environmental damage, energy and resource scarcity, as well as persistent social inequalities, it has become obvious that China’s model of economic development needs major adaptions. By combining economic and political analysis with Chinese studies, our team at the Chair of China Business and Economics in Würzburg is deeply involved in uncovering answers to some of the most critical questions surrounding China's increasing economic power and its influence in international politics, innovation, standard setting and production processes. Our contributions to knowledge and science have been showcased in the multitude of publications since the founding of the chair and the inception of the study program in 2012. Chair Of Internal Auditing
The Chair of Internal Auditing held by Univ-Prof. Dr. Marc Eulerich at the Mercator School of Management (University of Duisburg-Essen) is currently the only university chair in Germany with a focus on internal auditing in research and teaching. Based on an endowed junior professorship established by the German Institute of Internal Auditors (DIIR) in 2011-2016, the chair was founded with the aim to create a link between science and practice that would be of interest to students. A focus on practical knowledge transfer and insight into current research should enable students to prepare themselves optimally for their career entry and to discover the exciting field of internal auditing. In the context of the inter/national research projects of the chair, basic research on internal auditing is to be carried out as well as practice-related problem solutions are to be developed, which deepen the scientific discussion in the context of good corporate governance and reveal the meaningfulness of inter audit functions. Numerous cooperation partners in Germany and abroad, as well as a broad spectrum of methods form the basis for publications, conferences and projects. Lectures with in/direct reference to internal auditing are offered for both bachelor and master students, which are intended to provide the most practical and at the same time scientific qualification possible for a successful career start. In addition, the chair supervises final theses/seminar papers on the topics of internal auditing and corporate governance. Since 2017 the chair has been part of the "Internal Auditing Education Partnership" program of the Institute of Internal Auditors and reached the highest of the program's three levels in November 2020. For then on, the chair has been allowed to call itself a "Center for Internal Auditing Excellence", which only eleven universities worldwide have achieved so far.

Cluster Of Excellence Cibss - Centre For Integrative Biological Signalling Studies
OUR VISION: Signalling across Scales: From Mechanistic Understanding to Control-of-Function What does it take to make trillions of living cells of the body align their fate and function to form and maintain a healthy organism? In all complex multicellular life – including humans, animals and plants – communication processes within and between cells orchestrate the development from a single cell into a mature organism, and enable the whole organism to adapt to changing environmental conditions. Signalling research addresses the biological communication processes that are fundamental to life and health. While knowledge about individual signalling processes has expanded greatly in recent years, it is still unclear how the plethora of signals are integrated across scales – from individual molecules and cells, to tissues and organs. It is the goal of the Cluster of Excellence CIBSS – Centre for Integrative Biological Signalling Studies to gain a comprehensive understanding of signalling processes across biological scales. The CIBSS Research Team will use this knowledge to develop strategies to precisely control signalling processes. This will not only accelerate research, but also fuel innovation addressing important challenges in biomedicine and plant sciences. Cluster Of Excellence Physics Of Life Pol
Physics of Life (PoL) is one of five clusters of excellence at TU Dresden. We aim to elucidate the laws of physics that underlie the dynamic spatiotemporal organization of life into molecules, cells and tissues. Our goal is to bring fundamental physics to biology for the purpose of understanding and solving biological questions. We are dedicated to creating a multidisciplinary environment where scientists from physics, biology and computer science are investigating how active matter in cells and tissues organizes itself into given structures and gives rise to life. Our research is enabled by merging theory and experiment and driven by a collaborative atmosphere in Dresden between University and non-University research laboratories. PoL is funded by the DFG within the framework of the Excellence Strategy. It is a cooperation between scientists of the TU Dresden and research institutions of the DRESDEN-concept network, such as the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics (MPI-CBG), the Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems (MPI-PKS), the Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research (IPF) and the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR).

Collaborative Research Center 876
The collaborative research center SFB876 brings together data mining and embedded systems. On the one hand, embedded systems can be further improved using machine learning. On the other hand, data mining algorithms can be realized in hardware, e.g. FPGAs, or run on GPGPUs. The restrictions of ubiquitous systems in computing power, memory, and energy demand new algorithms for known learning tasks. These resource bounded learning algorithms may also be applied on extremely large data bases on servers.

Crc 1357 Microplastics
The Collaborative Research Center (CRC) 1357 "Microplastics” was established in 2019 at the University of Bayreuth. The CRC investigates the increasing contamination of the environment by plastics worldwide and develops innovative solutions to counteract the resulting ecological, health and economic risks. The close linking of interdisciplinary basic research with problem-related application research will enable well-founded risk assessments and further strengthen the transfer of knowledge to the public. The goal of future research projects of the CRC "Microplastics" is to gain a fundamental understanding of the processes and mechanisms that 1) condition biological effects of MP in limnetic and terrestrial ecosystems as a function of the physical and chemical properties of the particles, 2) influence the migration behavior of MP particles and 3) cause the formation of MP starting from macroscopic plastics, based on model systems for plastics, organisms, and environmental compartments. These findings provide a scientifically sound basis for assessing the environmental risks of MP, as well as for developing environmentally friendly plastics and processes to prevent the emission of MP into the environment.
