Alexandria Clinical Research Center Crc

Alexandria Clinical Research Center is the first center dedicated for conduction of clinical trials (CTs) in Egypt. It was established in July 2006 with the assistance of the University of Maryland, USA, under the twinning agreement between the cities of Alexandria and Baltimore. Trials are conducted in the center according to ICH-GCP guidelines after the approval of Research Ethics Committee (REC) of Alexandria Faculty of Medicine, Egyptian Ministry of Health (MOH), National Organization for Drug Control And Research (NODCAR), and National Organization for Research & Control of Bioogicals (NORCB). The center provides a full range of resources and services directly or in coordination with the institutional resources of Alexandria University Hospital: research patient care, trained research personnel, lab facilities, statistical consultation, computer and data management support. Mission: the Center is dedicated to enhancing and expanding the magnitude of high-quality clinical research by providing a comprehensive range of practical services, an environment conducive to study, and continuous education for researchers at all levels. Vision: upgrading Alex CRC to be a Center of Excellence in Clinical Research. Objectives: foster more innovative, high-impact clinical trials and to streamline drug development activities enabling Egyptian patients to access the best medical care, to train local/regional researchers to conduct multinational trials and other health research projects and assume leadership within the MENA region. Also, to integrate all parties involved such as MOH, WHO, academia, pharmaceuticals, CROs and RECs in Egypt into one extensive network for clinical trials. Research activities: investigator-initiated & industry-sponsored phase II, & IV multicenter trials. Educational activities: training courses on GCP & research ethics for investigators, research coordinators and REC members, in English and French.

The Experimental Foundry at CMRDI: A short History of Excellency Over more than 35 years, CMRDI exerted extensive efforts in the 80’s of the past century to establish an experimental foundry of about 700 t/year capacity with modern melting, molding, sand preparation, core-making heat treatment, as well as machining facilities. The foundry has never been a competitor of the local commercial foundries, instead its production is concentrated around castings required in limited quantities that normally need a short R&D program to reach the required specifications before production. The produced castings are usually import replacements with the same quality levels. Two distinct main privileges of the foundry are: · It is backed by 40 years experience of alloy development programs at the different departments of CMRDI, which renders the quality of the produced castings very often superior to that of the imported ones. · Moreover, the foundry is supported by the extensive up-to-date testing, characterization as well as quality control facilities at CMRDI that can hardly be found in any commercial foundry. The experimental foundry at CMRDI has been also playing a prominent role in localization of spare parts production in Egypt. Over many years of continuous development, the activities at that foundry have been following different tracks: production of finished castings for the market, developing and transferring production technologies to the Egyptian foundry industry and designing and conducting of tailored training courses on both the theoretical and practical scales for the Egyptian foundrymen as well as their colleagues from Arab and African Countries.

The Institute of Domestic Violence, Religion & Migration (IDVRM) is a non-profit social enterprise that is dedicated to developing and strengthening community-led, culturally resonant and faith-sensitive responses to domestic violence in development, humanitarian and migration contexts internationally. We support governments, aid organisations and service providers with research and intervention design and delivery, capacity-building and training. IDVRM span out of the work of Project dldl/ድልድል previously led by Dr Romina Istratii at SOAS University of London, UK, with ~£1.8M funding awarded by UK Research and Innovation. The Project developed novel research and intervention responses to domestic violence in Ethiopia and migrant communities in the UK, while promoting equitable collaboration and two-way knowledge exchange between Europe and Africa. Our approach as an Institute is guided by the Project dldl/ድልድል Model® premised on decolonial reflexivity, interdisciplinarity, cultural and theological knowledge and genuine co-creation involving grassroots organisations, women’s platforms and faith-based stakeholders. We approach domestic violence as transboundary and interconnected with conflict-related violence and abuses experienced in displacement, seeing violence as a continuum that requires complex responses. We are a female-led company and comprise of a collective of highly specialised researchers, practitioners and community members with lived experience of the issues we address, representing over 17 countries and territories in the world.

Auc Eve Vr Lab

The Educational Virtual Environment (EVE) Lab was funded by the American University in Cairo Provost initiative for educational excellence in 2018, to which both the Mechanical Engineering and Architecture departments were applicants, joint recipients, and collaborators on its design and establishment. The primary added value of the EVE lab is the pedagogical benefit it presents to undergraduate and graduate students at SSE and AUC at large. The premise is that VR would enhance learning activities with realism, complex inter-disciplinary team-work and reflective/adaptive opportunities, and in effect instill better performance in the learning activities of students, assessments and key performance indicators targeted in the courses, and ultimately the learning outcomes. The lab hosts state-of-the-art mixed reality equipment, including a CAVE (3-walled + floor projection system), 9 HTC VIVE Headsets, 5 Zed Mini Cameras, and 2 Snapmaker machines that allow for 3D printing, laser engraving, and cutting, and CNC carving.

As an undergrad, she double majored in Computer Science and Actuarial Science at AUC, then earned a Masters of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo with a focus on FinTech. Her research focuses on leveraging connections between data science and combinatorial optimization to design data-driven algorithms that efficiently tackle real-world challenges with social impact.
