Faroe Marine Research Institute - Havstovan
Faroe Marine Research Institute (FAMRI) is a governmental institute which conducts various marine research and provides the Government of the Faroe Islands with scientific advice based on its research on marine resources and the environment. The aim of the research is to provide a basis for a responsible exploitation of the marine resources around the Faroe Islands. Assessments are made of the most important fish stocks. These assessments are based on investigations, independent of the industry, which are carried out by the research vessel, Jákup Sverri, e.g. 0-group surveys, bottom trawls surveys and acoustic surveys, in addition to catch and effort statistics from the commercial fleet.

Blue Resource Sjókovin
Sjókovin / Blue Resource is a private, independent, non-profit research centre, with the objective - to foster sustainable development and innovation in the Faroese fisheries and aquaculture sectors by providing knowledge services to transfer new knowledge to the Faroes and Faroese knowledge to the world- to act as a commucation hub for companies involved in the fisheries and aquaculture sectors It was founded by five innovative Faroese companies to initiate relevant research of relevance to the Faroese Ocean Cluster and the wider community as a whole. Blue Resource provides research and knowledge services relevant for a wide range of actors: e.g. companies involved in the blue bioeconomy, policy-makers and NGOs. We have good relationships with industry partners across the Faroe Islands, and a strong network with knowledge institutions across Europe and beyond. We have a interdisciplinary team with expertise in fisheries and resource management, policy and governance, risk assessment, socio-economic impact assessments, multi-criteria analysis, value chain and market analysis.
