Laboratory Of Genetics Bioz
The Laboratory of Genetics, Comparative and Evolutionary Biology (BIOZ) was founded by the Presidential Decree 1971/10-9-2009. BIOZ evolved from a multi-disciplinary research group originally established to concentrate on research of animal genetics, to elucidate the functional and ecological benefits of genetic polymorphism at the organism and population level and to use the fruits of the research for the development of possible applications. The research activities of BIOZ are ranging from the isolation, characterization and evolution of genes to genetic polymorphism and species phylogenesis, to the identification of the functional impact of genetic variation and across species comparisons. The members of BIOZ mostly use animal species with a commercial interest as research models. This strategy, adopted early in BIOZ, has led to a series of diagnostic applications and the development of tight collaborations with the private sector that uses the services and consultation of ΒΙΟΖ. Taking into consideration the methodological approaches, the scientific questions and the final applications, research activities of BIOZ fall within four major axes: Biodiversity, Genetics in Sustainable Production, Human Disorders and Traceability. BIOZ has developed a network of national and international collaborators while participating in COST Actions, ESF Research Networking Programs, National Science and Technology Platforms. Research funding has been secured through the applications developed, participation in competitive research projects and the departmental MSc programs. The overall BIOZ research publications are numbered in 90 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals and numerous contributions in national and international conferences. Research excellence is a priority for BIOZ members, but a deep commitment to quality teaching and mentorship is an equally important hallmark of our group. The members of GeCEB teach the core undergraduate courses of Introduction to Biology, Genetics, Cell Biology, Developmental Biology, Evolution, Cell Signalling and Transduction, Molecular Basis of Genetic Diseases as well as the optional courses of Molecular Ecology and Principles of Neural Science and Behaviour. Moreover, they are strongly involved in the teaching of postgraduate courses in four MSc Program of Studies.

The “Management, Entrepreneurship & Innovative Education Laboratory” was founded in 2015 in the Department of Business Administration (DBA) of the University of the Aegean (Government Gazette Issue No1867 / 31-08-2015). The first title of the Lab was “Management, Communication and Innovative Education” and its first Director, until September of 2019, was Professor Nikolaos Konstantopoulos. Since October of 2019, Director of MEIE Lab is the Assistant Professor Dr. Ioannis Kinias (Government Gazette Issue No 845/ 14-10-2019). In February 2020, the Lab was renamed and received its current title (Government Gazette Issue No 537/ 20-02-2020). MEIE Lab is located in the Michalio Building in Chios Island, it has 4 workstations and a meeting-presentation table and is equipped with computers, printers and all the appropriate systems.

Materials Modeling And Design Group
The Materials Modeling and Design Group (MMDG) in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Crete was established in 2001. We perform research in designing, modeling and investigating properties of nanostructures and porous materials for Energy, Enviromental and Health applications. MMDG is supervised by Professor George E. Froudakis. The MMDG group has broad experience in modeling nanomaterials. Multi-scale computational techniques are developed in house and used for simulating large systems with accurate quantum chemistry methods. Most simulations are based on Density Functional Theory (DFT), Monte Carlo and Molecular Dynamics methodology. In addition, the group has considerable experience in high–accuracy ab–initio techniques (MP2–4, CC, CAS–SCF, MRDCI) for the study of structural, bonding, electronic and spectroscopic properties of molecules and clusters. Recently, a new computational methodology for large-scale screening of materials with the use of Machine Learning algorithms (ML) was developed. Analysis Of Circulating Tumor Cells Laboratory Actc Lab
Our lab is specializing in the development, analytical validation and clinical evaluation of molecular assays for the detection, enumeration and molecular characterization of CTCs. More specifically, our main research interests are on: ∙ study of micrometastasis through the development of singleplex and multiplex quantitative real time RT-qPCR assays for the detection of CTCs, ∙ development and clinical evaluation of DNA methylation assays in fresh tissues, paraffin-embedded breast carcinomas, in CTCs and in cell-free circulating DNA, ∙ development and clinical evaluation of quantitative real time RT-qPCR assays for the detection of mature micro RNAs in fresh tissues, paraffin-embedded breast carcinomas and in cell-free circulating DNA, ∙ development and clinical evaluation of highly sensitive assays for mutation analysis in CTCs and in cell-free circulating DNA, ∙ development and clinical evaluation of multiplex assays for gene expression in CTCs based on the Luminex bead array system.

The Computer Vision and Machine Learning R&D group (CVML) is a division of the Artificial Intelligence and Information Analysis Lab (AIIA, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece), led by Prof. Ioannis Pitas. Its topics of interest span the areas of computer vision, machine learning, autonomous systems, robotic vision, intelligent digital media, image/video processing, human-centred computing, affective computing, 3D imaging and biomedical imaging, virtual reality in medicine/dentistry, multimedia security/protection, biometrics, computer graphics/visualization and cultural heritage conservation. It has undertaken more than 71 R&D projects in these areas, mostly funded by European Union (H2020, FP7/6/5). Overall, Prof. I. Pitas has been the principal investigator in 43 competitive R&D projects.

Energy Policy And Development Centre - Unai Hub For Sdg7
The Energy Policy and Development Centre (KEPA) is an academic research institute within the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. In October 2018 it was appointed, out of 1300 universities and colleges members of the UNAI, as the exclusive UNAI hub for the 7th Sustainable Development Goal (SDG). Simultaneously, it is the coordinator of the “BSEC-Green Energy Network” and the “PROMITHEAS Network”. The activities of KEPA although cover a wide range of topics, starting from energy geopolitics, regional energy markets, the promotion of energy investments and trade, during the last years they are focused on Climate Change (CC) and Green Economy. Emphasis is placed on knowledge transfer and capacity building for Energy Efficiency (EE), Smart Nearly Zero-Energy Buildings (NZEB), development of low carbon policy mixtures, incorporation of behavioral patterns in energy modelling and EE forward looking policies. As a UNAI hub for SDG7, KEPA is promoting the following initiatives: Energy Poverty Initiative, Establishment of “Regional Center of Excellence” for Smart NZEB, the Switch to less GHG emitting fuels (EE, RES, Natural Gas) in municipalities, the engagement of youth in EE and CC innovative actions, regionally and the engagement of Academia, Municipalities and market forces into innovative Green Energy Cooperative Actions.

Icu Follow-Up Care Research Lab
Research is the most powerful tool for the development of knowledge in a science. It is the way through which science develops a distinct body of scientific knowledge and strengthens its autonomy and credibility. It is through these thoughts and driven by the need to link scientific research with Intensive Care Units (ICU) and health professionals that the research laboratory entitled “ICU Follow - up Care Lab” was founded in May 2019 by faculty members of the Department of Nursing, University of West Attica. The “ICU Follow - up Care Lab” has an office of Administrative Services at the Aigaleo Park Campus and is the first research laboratory of the University of West Attica, which is in a hospital, specifically in the General Hospital of Athens. Korgialeio – Benakio E.E.S.(pending the E.O.A.) for the implementation of its nursing and research work. It aims at monitoring the problems of adult patients that have arisen as a result of ICU hospitalization. Follow up of patients is carried out in the clinical area, in scheduled meetings, after discharge from the ICU and the hospital where they were hospitalized. The goal is to promote the idea of an integrated post-hospital follow-up and counseling structure for this vulnerable group of patients, respectfully and professionally recognizing their right to return to their pre-sickness state of health. At the same time, the ICU Laboratory aspires to integrate into nursing education the use of simulation technologies provided by an integrated ICU Simulation Laboratory, in which students of all study cycles as well as health professionals will be trained, seeking to fill the educational – learning gap as a new approach technique, providing the possibility of proper learning and practice of rich cognitive and practical skills in a safe environment. The Laboratory of Photogrammetry of the School of Rural, Surveying and Geoinformatics Engineering of National Technical University of Athens was founded in 1962 and has significant educational and research activity worldwide. It serves the scientific areas of Photogrammetry and Computer Vision, as well as Cadastre and Land Administration. The general philosophy of the research work of the Laboratory of Photogrammetry is to produce new knowledge and to train and support young researchers in the theoretical and practical subjects of Photogrammetry and Computer Vision, through basic and applied research. In particular, the research interests of the members of the Laboratory are focused on: • 3D Reconstruction and Mapping using Computer Vision Algorithms on Aerial, Satellite, Terrestrial and Underwater Imagery, • 3D Reconstruction and Mapping using LIDAR and SAR data, • Classification, detection and segmentation of unordered 3D point sets and images, • Geometric Documentation and 3D representation and Modelling of Tangible and Intangible Cultural Heritage, • Historic Building Information Modelling (HBIM), • Virtual and Augmented Reality applications, • Monitoring of dynamically changing environments, • Development of multidimensional land information management systems. The scientific field of Cadastre and Land Administration includes: • real property law, technical legislation, land policy and land use zoning, property valuation and taxation as well as basic principles for the functioning of sustainable real estate markets, • modern methods for the adjudication of rights and rights holders and the compilation of cadastral maps, data bases and standardization, national spatial data infrastructures, and • modern information technology and land information systems, for an interdisciplinary approach with an emphasis on evidence-based decision-making for the planning and the appropriate management of current global challenges.

Senselab Space Informatics
SenseLab team, led by Professor Panagiotis Partsinevelos, designs and creates disruptive innovative technological products in the fields of Earth Observation, Satellite Positioning Systems, Remote Sensing as well as Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and develops specialized, prototype unmanned systems for various applications with capabilities that exceed even global standards. It also provides specialized services and IT solutions in the field (such as for surveying and mapping companies, education, health and recovery structures, shipping companies, cooperatives and companies involved in precision agriculture, civil protection, fire brigade, environmental organizations, local government, etc.). Sense is one of the first two spin-offs founded by the Technical University of Crete, with the support of the SenseLab research group of the Laboratory of Geodesy and Informatics of the Geosciences, and has gained international recognition in the field of Geoinformatics and UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles). SenseLab is one of the few research teams in the world that has 3 consecutive awards and has been the only purely Greek award-winning team in the most widespread space competitions of the European Union in the past and has won more than 20 major international competitions and more than 10 first places among thousands of participants, including Airbus Global Earth Observation Challenge, MIT innovation for Refugees, Copernicus Masters, Galileo Masters, European Space Agency, European Global Navigation Satellite Systems Agency (GSA), Drones for Good, etc.

Το έργο FoodOASIS στοχεύει στη μελέτη και ανάπτυξη ενός συστήματος ενυδρειοπονίας που θα οδηγήσει σε α) εξοικονόμηση νερού και λιπασμάτων άρα αύξηση της αποτελεσματικότητας χρήσης τους, μέσω της ανακύκλωσης του διαλύματος μεταξύ των δύο υπο-συστημάτων της καλλιέργειας, β) αύξηση της ποιότητας των προϊόντων, λόγω του πρωτοποριακού σχεδιασμού του συστήματος διαχείρισης ανάμειξης των διαλυμάτων και κατάλληλης τροφοδοσίας θρεπτικών στοιχείων στα φυτά και τα ψάρια και γ) αύξηση της αποτελεσματικότητας χρήσης των συνολικών εισροών στο θερμοκήπιο, καθώς ο ίδιος χώρος θα χρησιμοποιείται για την παραγωγή δύο ειδών. Insect Biology Lab - University Of Thessaly
We work on several different aspects of insect biology, ecology, behaviour and pest management, involving laboratory and field studies. In our laboratory, fruit flies of the family Tephritidae are used as model species to address various research questions including-life history evolution -geographic variation in life history traits -factors shaping life histories in field conditions -age structure of wild insect populations -cost of reproduction (mainly that of males)-aging and health dynamics in insects -age-specific expression of innate behaviours and their connection with insect performance -relationships between fruit flies and their host fruits -sexual behaviour including trade-offs and costs of reproduction -effects of insect symbionts on life history traits A further line of research regards the development of Area Wide Management Programs based on spatial population dynamics and population modelling. This also encompasses the development of trapping systems and methodologies for various insect pest species

We welcome you to the 10th International Conference on Micro Nanoelectronics, Micro-Nanosciences & Nanotechnologies. This annual conference is organized by the Micro & Nano Scientific Society of Greece and its aims is to connect people from Academia, Research and Industry, so as to stimulate discussions on the latest scientific achievements and to further promote micro- and nanotechnologies. The conference is held every time in a different city all around Greece with the most recent one realized in Xanthi (2022). This year’s Conference is returning to Athens and is co-organized with the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Because it is the 10th Anniversary of the Conference, a Special Event is scheduled as an Opening Ceremony on the first day (November 2nd, 2023) to commemorate and celebrate 40 years of Microelectronics in Greece. The Τopics of the conference include. Materials for Devices, Micro and Nano – Fabrication Processes and Development, Sensors and Actuators, Electronic, Optoelectronic and Photonic Devices and Micro and Nano-technologies for Energy. The conference committee strongly encourages the submission of abstracts by graduate students and early-career researchers and also welcomes undergraduate students to attend at discount registration rates.
