The National Bureau of Statistics of the Republic of Moldova (NBS; Romanian: Biroul Național de Statistică, abbr. BNS) is the central administrative authority which, as the central statistical body, manages and coordinates the activity in the field of statistics from the country. In its activity, NBS acts according to the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova, the Law on official statistics, other legislative acts, Parliament decisions, decrees of the President of the Republic of Moldova, ordinances, decisions and Government orders, international treaties of which the Republic of Moldova is part of. The NBS elaborates independently or in collaboration with other central administrative bodies and approves the methodologies of statistical and calculation surveys of statistical indicators, in accordance with international standards, especially those of the European Union, and with the advanced practice of other countries, as well as taking into account the peculiarities of the socio-economic conditions of the Republic of Moldova, organizes, following the programme of statistical works, annually approved by the Government, statistical surveys regarding the situation and economic, social, demographic development of the country, performing the works related to the collection, processing, centralizing, storage and dissemination of statistical data. Institutul National De Metrologie
The National Institute of Metrology is a public institution, founded by the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure. Through the National Institute for Metrology, the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure implements the national policies in the field of both legal and applied metrology. The creation of the National Institute for Metrology in its present form is one of the steps towards the alignment of the Moldovan quality infrastructure to the model generally applied in the European Union member states. At present, the National Institute of Metrology maintains the National Measurement Standards Database, which is one of the most modern in the region. The activity of maintaining the National Measurement Standards Database implies continuous performance of measurement exercises, gathering and examination of results, their interpretation and improvement of measurement techniques etc. In order to assure the compliance with the requirements for measuring instruments to be made available on the market and/or to be used for measurements of public interest, the National Institute of Metrology founded the Conformity Assessment Body (OCP-INM). OCP-INM conducts conformity assessment of measuring instruments to be placed on the domestic market, in accordance with the requirements of the Government Decision no. 408 from 16.06.2015 “on the approval of the Technical Regulation relating to making available on the market of measuring instruments” and Government Decision no. 267 from 8 April 2014 “on the approval of the Technical Regulation relating to non-automatic weighting instruments”. Thus, reliable measurement techniques are gathered and developed in the Republic of Moldova, which assure the exactness and reliability of national measurements, whose results are recognized regionally and internationally.
