Medrc
MEDRC is an International Organization mandated to find solutions to fresh water scarcity. Established in 1996 as part of the Middle East Peace Process it conducts research, training, development cooperation and transboundary water projects. The MEDRC Headquarters is in Muscat in the Sultanate of Oman, where it operates a state of the art research and training facility including desalination plants, laboratories, lecture halls and administrative offices. In delivering its mission, MEDRC aims to become a viable and transferable mechanism for governments seeking to address significant regional or trans-boundary environmental challenges.

The Research Council
The Research Council was established on 22nd of June 2005, pursuant to the Royal Decree number 54/2005. It carries tasks related to research and endeavors to promote and support research using all the material and moral means possible. The Research Council in this capacity shall be the main national authority in this area, acts as a focal point for research and innovation and liaise with various institutions concerned with research. His Majesty Sultan Qaboos has issued the Royal Decree No 30/2010 promulgates The Research Council Law. Article 1 stipulates that The Research Council will be governed by the law appended to the decree. Article 2 states that the Chairman of The Research Council shall issue the bylaws and decisions necessary to implement the provisions of the attached law. Till then, the bylaws, guidelines and the decisions in force shall remain valid for areas not covered by the attached law provided that they do not contradict or contravene with the provisions of the law. Article 3 cancels all that contradicts or contravenes with the provisions of the law. Article 4: The Decree comes into force from the day following of its publication.

EJAAD was launched in January 2018 with a shared vision of more than 50 stakeholders from industry, academia and government, as a vehicle to realize the mandates and aspirations of Oman Energy Industry-Academia R&D Protocol. The protocol - initially signed between the Ministry of Energy and Minerals (MoEM), Ministry of higher Education, Research and Innovation (MoHERI) and Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) in 2017 - aims to collaborate and support research and innovation, and establish efficient R&D partnerships towards Oman’s knowledge-based economy. EJAAD is a collaboration & communication hub for research and innovation in Oman linking academic research to industry needs with focus areas in; Oil & Gas, Renewable Energy, Water, Energy, Environment, Bioeconomy, Digitalization & AI. By providing services; industrial challenges, researcher’s network, research ideas, equipment & facilities database (iLab), staff Mobility (EIDAAD) online consultancy, and International collaboration.

Innovation Park Muscat - مجمع الإبتكار مسقط
An ambitious project of The Research Council’s (TRC) which designed to nurture and develop research talent in order to power innovation and create economic benefit for Oman and to help ensure our national prosperity and international competitiveness. It is a central part of TRC’s National Research Strategy and intrinsically linked to the Sultanate’s development plan - Vision 2020. IPM will help enhance the Sultanate’s economic, entrepreneurial and research wealth by supporting the growth of Oman-based innovative and research-driven companies in the fields of oil recovery, renewable energy, food and biotechnology, water and environment, and health science. IPM will create an aspiring environment for innovators and entrepreneurs to develop extraordinary ideas and companies. The phase one of IPM will see the light in the very soon future, as it has already opened its doors for hi-end investors to utilize R&D leasable lots in the four mentioned sectors with a bundle of attractive incentives. It will be strategically located in a vital location closer to Sultan Qaboos University, Knowledge Oasis Muscat, Rusayl Industrial Estate, Botanic gardens and not far from Muscat international airport The hi-tech and all comprehensive development in an area of m2 will house research institutes, R&D centers, fabrication workshop, conference rooms, spacious incubation space, auditorium, exhibition hall, day care, hotel, Mosque, library, mini mall, and even fitness center, convenience store, restaurants and cafes.
