Established in 2013, SRIS is a collaboration between the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Singapore’s National Healthcare Group (NHG), and Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU). Building on the strengths of each partner, this tripartite collaboration harnesses the expertise of scientists, clinicians and engineers to conduct high impact, interdisciplinary skin research that can be translated into improved patient care. Our three flagship programmes—the National Atopic Dermatitis programme, the Wound Care in the Tropics programme, and the Asian Skin Microbiome programme—address key clinical questions relevant to Asia and beyond. We are also expanding our research and innovation efforts in advanced skin imaging, image analyses and artificial intelligence, with the goal of transforming the paradigm of skin care through digital dermatology and mHealth approaches. Driven by our goal of improving the lives of patients and reducing the burden of skin diseases globally, we are translating scientific and clinical excellence into knowledge and economic outcomes for the benefit of society. Dementia Research Centre Singapore
At Dementia Research Centre (Singapore), our focus is to work towards the early diagnosis and prevention of diseases that cause dementia through detection of cutting-edge blood-based biomarkers and state of the art neuroimaging tests. Led by Professor Nagaendran Kandiah at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine under Nanyang Technological University, DRCS was launched in April 2022 and established itself as the first specialised centre carrying out dementia research studies on an entirely Southeast Asian cohort. DRCS currently houses the pivotal Biomarkers and Cognition Study Singapore (BIOCIS) which will recruit participants to undergo comprehensive memory testing, bloodwork and neuroimaging studies as part of a multifaceted and extensive approach towards creating a bigger picture of the biological factors unique to Asian dementia. DRCS aims to derive a greater understanding and awareness of Asian cognitive health through translational research – with a keen focus in channelling the knowledge acquired towards creating personalised interventions. Here, we strive towards initiating tangible community level change in building on the groundbreaking scientific research currently taking place. To help populations cope with the challenges of dementia, we believe in positive, impactful research that will not only uncover the underlying biological mechanisms of the disease for effective diagnostic and preventative tools, but also pave the way for pioneering therapies and community solutions on a widespread social scale.
