Center For Social Research Tam

The Center for Social Research (TAM) was legally established as an association at the beginning of 2022 by a group of academics with the aim of analyzing, understanding, and explaining all social issues. In line with this goal, an international peer-reviewed social sciences journal named TAM Academy was founded in a very short time. Our e-journal, whose first issue was published in May 2022, features scientific studies from all fields of social sciences. Our journal will meet its readers with its 4th issue dated November 2023. Established also to contribute to making Turkish a language of science, our journal publishes articles in both Turkish and English and continues to accept submissions. Climb Project

Climate change could lead to internal resettlements, international migration, and other forms of human mobility. However, the empirical link between various climatic conditions and migration outcomes is highly contested, and, to date, no unified theoretical approach can adequately capture the complexity and contextual dependency of climate-induced migration. To address this gap, CLIMB seeks to develop a holistic approach which will allow us to better understand the mechanisms and pathways underlying the climate-migration nexus, and to predict temporal-spatial mobility patterns in Africa and beyond. We will investigate how climate change may intersect with conflicts, poverty, and epidemics, among other adversities, and how these forces may operate in tandem in driving human migration, with a special focus on Africa. Climate risks are more likely to affect mobility within administrative areas/countries than cross-border migration. As a result, macro analyses of cross-country migration flows tend to find small and very uncertain climate impact on human mobility. Rather than aiming for a global study, CLIMB will adopt a bottom-up approach: Collecting timely and granular data on specific cases where the climate-migration nexus can be more apparent, both conceptually and empirically. Our first case study will focus on Senegal for two reasons. First, the country is projected to experience more extreme weather events which could force up to one million people to move by 2050. It also suffers from poverty, inequality, conflict and epidemics. Second, call data records (CDR) data provided through partnership with Sonatel (the principal telecommunications provider of Senegal) offers a unique opportunity to study mobility patterns at a high resolution. CLIMB will also make use of earth observation and social media data, and combine them with survey and official statistical data.

Jaltc - Journal Of Aging And Long-Term Care

Ismail Tufan Gerontology Foundation has recently assumed responsibility for the planning and introduction of a new international journal, the Journal of Aging and Long-Term Care (JALTC). With world societies facing rapid increases in their respective older populations there is a need for new 21st century visions, practices, cultural sensitivities and evidenced-based policies that assist in balancing the tensions between informal and formal long-term care support and services like examining topics about aging. JALTC aims to foster new scholarship contributions that address theoretical, clinical and practical issues related to aging and long-term care. It is intended that the JALTC will be first and foremost a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary journal seeking to use research to build quality based public policies for long-term health care for older adults. It is accepted that aging and long-term care is open to a diverse range of interpretations which in turn creates a differential set of implications for research, policy and practice. As a consequence, the focus of the journal will be to include the full gamut of health, family, and social services that are available in the home and the wider community to assist those older people who have or are losing the capacity to fully care for themselves. The adoption of a broader view of aging and long-term care allows for a continuum of care support and service systems that include home base family and nursing care, respite day care centers, hospital and hospice care, residential care, and rehabilitation services. It is also crucial to be aware that life circumstances can change suddenly and dramatically resulting in the need for transitional care arrangements requiring responsive, available, accessible, affordable and flexible health care service provision. Operations and Policy Center (OPC, formerly, Orient Policy Center) is an independent think tank and service provider based in Gaziantep, Turkey. Established in 2014, OPC conducts original research and provides consulting services to enhance policymaking, development programs, and humanitarian response projects. Syrian-led and owned, OPC combines local knowledge with technological and scientific expertise, utilizing in-house statisticians and graphic designers to create original and intuitive final products. Between 2014 and 2018, OPC was an exclusive service provider to the Orient Research Center (ORC) in Dubai. Since then, OPC has focused on cultivating relationships with governmental and non-governmental bodies working in Syria or with the Syrian diaspora. Currently, OPC is in a stage of growth after significantly upscaling its capabilities due to increased demand from a growing clientele.
