Welcome to CREMES Research Mentorship Program! Our program, led by Dr. Catherine Kahabuka, aims to nurture and shape Africa's future research talent. Initiated in November 2020, our mission is to empower young researchers with a comprehensive skill set encompassing technical expertise, ethical work practices, professionalism, and essential soft skills. In 2023, we expanded our reach beyond Tanzania and welcomed aspiring researchers from Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Nigeria, and Ethiopia. Our mentees are selected through a rigorous process, targeting passionate individuals committed to a research career. The program's curriculum covers everything from basic data collection to advanced analytical techniques, report writing, proposal development, and scientific writing. It is structured into three progressive career stages: Research Assistant, Junior Research Consultant, and Senior Research Consultant. Our 2023 addition, the Internship Program, offers practical experience for those aiming to become research consultants or start their own research firms. This hands-on phase is critical for developing consulting skills and client management expertise. Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH) is a parastatal organization with the responsibility of co-ordinating and promoting research and technology development activities in the country. It is the chief advisor to the Government on all matters pertaining to science and technology and their application to the socio-economic development of the country. Established by Act of Parliament No. 7 of 1986 as a successor to the Tanzania National Scientific Research Council, COSTECH became operational in 1988. The Act provides for a structural framework of the Commission, which brings together, the top leadership of the scientific and technological institutions in the country under one forum. Thus the Commission maintains a system of collaboration, consultation and cooperation with parties within Tanzania whose functions relate to the development and application of science and technology. In view of this all major national research and development institutes are affiliated to COSTECH.

Situated on the University main campus (Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Campus) in A B Weston building, the School is the oldest higher education training institution in Tanzania.
