The Innovation and Technology for Development Centre at the Technical University of Madrid (itdUPM) is a network of people and organizations whose aim is to generate both knowledge and practical solutions which facilitate a more sustainable and fair social development, through truly available quality services that are adapted to each particular context. itdUPM has contributed to satisfy the basic needs of some of the poorest communities in Africa and South America, such as access to water and energy, sustainable management of natural resources, basic habitability, application of telecommunications to health and education. In order to ingrain these innovations and to have long-term effects, itdUPM designs and develops jointly actions in which public administrations, NGO’s, business industries and international organizations collaborate side by side.

The Information Processing and Telecommunication Center (IPTC) was created by the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) following the initiative of a number of highly competitive and recognized research groups working in the fields of Electronics, Communications, Networks, Computing and Software, with a strong vocation for multidisciplinarity and internationalization. The Institute of Theoretical and Computational Chemistry of the Universitat de Barcelona (IQTCUB) is integrated by more than 60 researchers, experts in several fields of the Theoretical and Computational Chemistry. The research activity carried out at the IQTCUB covers methods and computational tools development, application of several techniques of electronic structures and simulation to problems in materials science, the study of reactivity and reaction dynamics in chemical reactions as well as of biological systems and soft-matter. The main goal is to generate synergies between researchers encouraging the interdisciplinary activities that allow to tackle new challenges. Another important goal is to share expertise in handling the computational resources, which are the main tools in this type of research.
