University Of Liberia School Of Public Health
The UL MPH Program is a two-year program within the College of Health Sciences. It is designed to meet a critical workforce gap in the Liberian public health sector. Consequently, the curriculum emphasizes the acquisition of workforce-ready skills, research and technical competencies and offers learners the option of focusing on one of four tracks: Applied Epidemiology, Environmental Health, Health Systems Management and Public Health Lab. The program is envisioned to provide students with a foundational understanding of core public health concepts and skills, as well as in-depth learning in a concentration area: Applied Epidemiology, Environmental Health, Health Systems Management, or Public Health Laboratory. MPH students will engage in practicum experiences as well as on-campus research. This vision diverges from that of other public health academic programs in Liberia due to its focus on leveraging partnerships to provide classroom-based and real-world opportunities for competency training that will prepare graduates to serve in all tiers of the country’s public health workforce

The mission of the UL-PIRE AFRICA is to initiate, advance, and evaluate activities, studies, and programs that improve and enhance social science and public health, and human safety. The civil conflicts in Liberia destroy the society, the country has clearly been described as an environment where the majority of the citizens live below the poverty line. Liberians still struggle with these impediments where they cannot improve their living standard after spending many years in conflict, without their normal activities completely stabilized. It is clear that researchers and development institutions still struggle to find lasting solutions that will improve the living standard and increase food security for Liberians. For this reason, we found it extremely necessary to resolve and form a local organization (Institute for Quality Research & Development Inc.) that will work with partners and the government to find lasting solutions to these many challenges through research. The organization works toward finding evidence and sustainable solutions for social positive change and development in Liberia. The Institute for Quality Research and Development Inc.(IQRD) specializes in conducting qualitative and quantitative research and analyses for institutions. We offer applied research to help determine what types of interventions work for vulnerable populations. We rigorously assess programs to help find solutions to reduce extreme poverty, violence, and youth crime. The Institute for Quality Research and Development Inc. possesses a range of capacities and systems to ensure the timely, accountable, and effective delivery of our services. These include robust internal finance and administration systems and procedures; excellent operational and logistical capabilities, including transport, communications, and IT infrastructure; and organizational policies that establish, monitor, and enforce high standards of personal and professional conduct within our work.
