Sharklab Adria Center For Marine And Freshwater Biology
Sharklab ADRIA: Center for marine and freshwater biology is an international research and educational organization that work across the northern Mediterranean, with focus on the eastern Adriatic Sea. Currently we have two headquarters (Malta and Bosnia and Herzegovina) with research branches operating in five countries. Our expertise is in pathology, immunology, toxicology, embryology, ecology and conservation; while our studies are focused on the better understanding of the biological traits, population structures and the effects of pollution on disease development in sharks, skates and rays. The obtained results are used for development long-term conservation measures on both local and regional levels. During the past six years, we led 19 regional research projects (and participated as expert group in 7 others) in the fields of pathology, immunology, embryology, ecology and conservation. Mentioned projects were funded and supported by Rufford Foundation, National Geographic, Discovery Channel, Explorers Club, Foundation Ensemble, S.E.E. Foundation, Waitt Foundation, PADI Foundation, IDEA WILD, European Union and several governmental agencies. In last ten years, our scientists have published more than 100 original papers and several widely recognized books. Xchange.Org
At Xchange, we believe in the power of data to transform public perception on human migration. We dig beyond the headlines to add meaning to numbers and advocate for better knowledge of migration through freely available data visualisation and analysis, as well as in-depth research and reports. Our data is the summary of thousands of individual journeys. Our goal is to cast a spotlight on the information gaps found along the main migratory routes for the benefit of all, not least migrants themselves. As our name suggests, we are eager to work with a wide spectrum of stakeholders, sources, ideas and solutions. We believe that through the exchange of migration-specific research and data, we can generate greater awareness of the phenomenon of human migration. We aspire to turn data into insight, and insight into action. Twitter:@xchange_org
