Ntnu Faculty Of Natural Sciences
The Faculty of Natural Sciences conducts research and education in the natural sciences, environmental science, biotechnology, food science, chemistry, physics, materials, and chemical engineering. We offer integrated MSc degrees in physics and mathematics, chemistry, biotechnology, materials technology and nanotechnology, as well as 3-year BSc and 2-year MSc degree programmes in chemistry, physics, biology and biotechnology. Six of our MSc programmes are international, taught in English. We also have PhD programmes in all our disciplines. The faculty's research is of a high international caliber, with topics that reflect NTNU's own priority areas, such as Materials and Energy & Petroleum - Resources & Environment. Engage is a centre that strives to create education where entrepreneurship is more integrated into the study programs at NTNU and Nord University. We are here to cultivate the environment at these universities that address innovation, entrepreneurship, and change. Engage will develop education for students from all disciplines and professions who will constantly challenge accepted truths and innovate for the better, in both private and public sectors. Engage is a consortium consisting of the NTNU School of Entrepreneurship, Nord University Business School, NTNU Experts in Teamwork, TrollLABS and Spark NTNU. We will provide train-the-trainer courses and activities for students in all disciplines in order to increase the number of students in higher education with entrepreneurial skills. We aim at covering our customers’ need for knowledge and understanding of economic and social developments and the effects of strategies and policies. Proba Research was established in October 2009 by four experienced researchers. The main motive for establishing Proba was an interest in society and a conviction that science-based knowledge is crucial for the success of both private and government institutions. All institutions need external advice for interpreting their environment and for understanding the consequences of various actions. Proba Research will contribute to covering this need by providing high quality analyses based on the social sciences, and with a focus on the clients’ need for knowledge. earthresQue er et Senter for Forskningsdrevet Innovasjon (SFI) finansiert av Norges forskningsråd og partnere. Senteret vil utvikle teknologier og systemer for bærekraftig håndtering og behandling av avfall og overskuddsmasser. Bakgrunn: I dag utgjør forurenset jord, avfall fra bygg og anleggssektoren, slagg og aske mer enn 70% av deponerte materialer i Norge. I tillegg er det store mengder rene overskuddsmasser, som jord, knust stein og fjell, som går til massetipp. Dette er sløsing med verdifulle ressurser, deponivolum og arealer. Målet med SFI earthresQue er å utvikle teknologier, løsninger, verdikjeder og rammevilkår for en mer bærekraftig håndtering og behandling av avfall og overskuddsmasser. Forskningen i senteret bygger på tett samarbeid mellom brukerpartnere og forskningsmiljøene slik at kunnskapen som utvikles svarer på behov i bransjen. Forskningen vil også innlemmes i utdanningsprogrammene på NMBU og BI for å sikre kompetent arbeidskraft. Hovedmålet med forskningen i earthresQue er å utvikle teknologi, systeminnovasjon og et styringsrammeverk for å oppnå bærekraftig forvaltning og behandling av avfall og overskuddsmasser, basert på et vitenskapelig fundament og utdanning. Det overordnede målet med senteret er mer innovasjon og verdiskaping i bransjen som håndterer og gjenvinner avfall og overskuddsmasser. Fremstående forskningsmiljøer samarbeider med forskningsaktive brukere om å utvikle kompetanse og teknologi som kan fornye og videreutvikle både næringsliv og offentlig sektor. Tidsrom: 2020-2028. The earthresQue SFI centre is a Centre for Research-based Innovation (SFI) funded by the Research Council of Norway. The centre will develop technologies and systems for sustainable handling and treatment of waste and surplus masses.
