Rise Research Institutes Of Sweden
As the challenges facing us as a society become increasingly complex, innovation alone is not enough; you need a strong innovation partner who can provide comprehensive support and a broad range of perspectives. This is where RISE comes in. RISE is a unique mobilisation of resources to increase the pace of innovation in our society. By gathering a number of research institutes and over a hundred test beds and demonstration environments under the umbrella of a single innovation partner, we create improved conditions for society’s problem solvers. We gather around challenges and organise ourselves accordingly. Together, specialists in disparate fields innovate and resolve tough problems. Depending on the nature of the challenge and our assignment, we take on a variety of roles in the innovation system, and develop new ones as and when required. We are owned by the Swedish State and work in collaboration with and on behalf of the private and public sectors and academia. Together, we develop services, products, technologies, processes and materials that contribute to a sustainable future and a competitive Swedish business community.

Institute For International Economic Studies Iies
The Institute for International Economic Studies (IIES) is a research institute at Stockholm University. Founded in 1962, it has become one of the leading institutions in Europe in advanced research in economics, broadly defined. The mission of the IIES condenses the three broad goals of Stockholm University at a top level: to train PhD economists, conduct cutting-edge research, and actively engage in high-level public policy discussions in Sweden and beyond. The three aims of the IIES are tightly interconnected. For the training of future PhDs and for ensuring that any policy advice is updated and based on sound empirical and theoretical grounds, an ongoing close engagement with the international research frontier is necessary. To this end, the IIES researchers themselves engage in research projects aimed at broad international impact. The PhD students based at the IIES are an integral part of its research environment. A defining feature of the PhD training, which is part of a Stockholm-wide program involving other institutions, is to encourage the students to take on ambitious and challenging questions of broad value to society. Upon graduation, IIES’s students go on to tenure-track jobs at academic universities worldwide or positions in government and other organizations. The list of leading Swedish decision makers with an IIES background is long. The IIES has a global aim with its research. However, its international profile is broader than that. A significant fraction of the faculty as well as PhD students, along with visiting seminar speakers and researchers, come from a wide variety of countries. The working language at the IIES is English.

European Spallation Source Eric
The European Spallation Source, or ESS, is state-of-the-art science facility being built in Lund, Sweden by a collaboration of 13 European nations. Almost like a giant microscope, ESS will allow scientists to use neutrons to look deep inside materia to see where the atoms are and what they are doing. This can help them design new materials which could lead to better batteries, greener plastics or stronger engineering materials. Or, it could help life science researchers develop new vaccines or more effective medicines. ESS is one of the largest science and technology infrastructure projects being built today. The facility design and construction includes the most powerful linear proton accelerator ever built, a 4-tonne, helium-cooled tungsten target wheel, 15 state-of-the-art neutron instruments, a suite of laboratories, and a supercomputing data management and software development centre. In the context of its history and future as a scientific organisation, however, it is more than the sum of its parts. It is a brand new organisation, being built from the ground up. Our aim is to advance science so that future generations can thrive.#ChangeTheWorld.
