Huma - Institute For Humanities In Africa
HUMA – the Institute for Humanities in Africa - an interdisciplinary research institute based in the Faculties of Humanities at the University of Cape Town (UCT)- intends to create a dynamic community for scholars and students in the humanities at large. HUMA’s primary objectives are threefold: to undertake and champion Pan-African interdisciplinary research and exchange; to promote the next academic generation; to contribute to social commentary and debate that straddles academic and non-academic publics. Each is undertaken from the vantage point of our location in Africa, and an interest in establishing appropriate linkages and relationships elsewhere on the continent and globally. HUMA has an Afropolitan outlook with a Pan African approach. This guides the Institute’s work on building scholarship, research, collaborations and nurturing the next generation of intellectuals. HUMA's intellectual agenda is informed by one central theme – On Being Human – organised around four Research Clusters:(1) Humanity and its Limits,(2) Human/Non-human,(3) Humane/Inhumane, and (4) Humanist/Anti-humanist

African Institute for Supply Chain Research (AISCR) established in 2018 is a dedicated non-profit, research institute that conducts cutting edge research on supply chain management to support continental wide sustainable development and inclusive growth. The motivation for the establishment of the institute is due to the fact that globally, research into supply chain has received great interest across industry, government and the research community. However, it remains under-researched and at the moment, only few universities in continent have supply chain degrees. Also, the strategic role of SCM within organisations and the continent requires specific focus and elevation. Cirrus Ai
Advances in AI and its application in Africa has the potential to drive innovation in industry and shape the societal landscape of tomorrow. While Africa was largely absent from the Internet Revolution there is now a growing realisation of the importance of technology in building societal prosperity. With growth in learning and communication, and with several strong and internationally competitive universities there is substantial interest in AI from faculty and students in the region. Yet the region has not expanded fast enough to fully realise the opportunities presented and there is now a rapidly growing need for talent, infrastructure and funding to support innovation. To move beyond the hype and be competitive with the substantial accumulation of resources in North America and more recently in Asia, requires efforts on a magnitude far greater than any previous spanning academia and industry. This has led to the formation of Cirrus, to bring about a step change in the research and application of AI in the region.

Ethno Lab
Ethno lab is a qualitative and quantitative research consultancy that specializes in ethnographic research in emerging markets. Centre For Sociological Research And Practice Csrp
The Centre for Sociology Research and Practice (CSRP) provides sustained discussion and implementation of a programme of action that links the theory and practice of decolonisation in research and in teaching and learning. In contrast to conventional ivory tower approaches it does not merely “extract” from grassroots movements and other indigenous knowledge experts. Instead, the CSRP prides itself in forging a democratic partnership whereby Black working-class communities in particular are empowered throughout the research process. The CSRP is located within the Department of Sociology at the University of Johannesburg. Staff members of this department lead the centre. However, the centre locates itself more broadly within society. We do not want to be trapped in an ‘ivory tower’ nor do we want to serve narrowly defined interests and agendas. We see our work as responding to challenges that emanate from beyond our location in an institution of higher education and from this part of the world. We are internationalist in our work and outlook.
