Corrie Enterprises Ltd
Corrie Enterprises Ltd is a Conservation based mixed farm which features wildlife at its core, supported by commercial agriculture. The operation is based in rural Zambia in the Central Province near the town of Mumbwa. The farm is 1100ha which is fully fenced and protected by a team of 15 gamescouts. Approximately 200Ha is devoted to mixed farming which includes cropping, honey, fishfarming and cattle ranching. Wildlife is free roaming throughout the farm and includes Sable antelope, Waterbuck, Reedbuck, Impala, Puku, Zebra, Bushbuck, Common Duiker, Blue Duiker, Ostrich, Pangolin, Honey Badgers, Porcupine, Jackal, Large pattern civits, civits and wild pig. The farm operates on Conservation based holistic management program with zero burning and habitat creation. There are waterholes throughout the property in areas identified as wildlife habitats to mitigate irregular rainfall patterns and the cattle are grazed in moveable electronic paddocks to maximise organic ground cover and mitigate moisture loss. There are several dams throughout the property with reedbeds to encourage breeding habitats and riparian cover for smaller mammals. Land management is kept to a minimum with over 70% of the farm being devoted to Miombo forests and minimal disruption in order to reduce stress on the wildlife which historically encountered mass poaching and hunting. There are no Apex predators on the farm although there have been sightings of lions and leopards in the area and evidence of penetration by leopards in the past. Since the farm was fully fenced with Bonox game fences, we have not had any elephants recorded although this is expected once water shortages become more severe in the spring. Corrie Enterprises actively seeks and encourages conservation and ecological research on the farm at both MSc and PHd level in areas such as habitat studies, fauna and flora studies, habitat restoration and rewilding as well as individual species research.
