La ligne de chemin de fer Daillens – Vallorbe a été ouverte en 1870. La première gare de Vallorbe date donc de cette époque.Pour lui donner une dimension internationale les gouvernement suisse en francais signèrent des conventions pour l’ouverture d’une liaison bien plus courte entre Frasne et Vallorbe en 1906. Le buffet de la gare a été donc créé. Dans ces mêmes lieux et après une fermeture de 7 ans, nous avons pris au défi la réouverture du Buffet pour le faire revivre comme au bon vieux temps.

Es ist uns eine Freude, Ihre Gastgeber zu sein und Sie mit feinen Speisen, guten Weinen und konstanter Qualität zu verwöhnen. Wir legen grossen Wert auf die Frische und Saisonalität unserer Produkte und servieren Ihnen sorgfältig und mit Liebe zubereitete Gerichte. Dazu gehört auch die Verwendung bester Lebensmittel aus der Region. Erbaut wurde der Gasthof zum goldenen Kreuz in drei Teilen zwischen 1710 und dem späten 18. Jahrhundert und stellt seit jeher ein bedeutendes Gebäude im Frauenfelder Ergaten Quartier dar. Gemäss der Tafelinschrift am Eckbau unseres Hauses haben der Herzog von Weimar Dichterfürst Johann Wolfgang von Goethe am 3. Dezember 1779 bei uns Halt gemacht. Heute erinnert in unserem Goethe-Stübli eine erhaltene bemalte Täfelung aus dem 17. Jahrhundert an jene Zeit. Eine vollständige Renovation im Jahr 1978 liess den Gasthof zum goldenen Kreuz in neuem Glanz erstrahlen. In den Jahren von 1990 bis 2019 baute Beat Jost den Gasthof zum goldenen Kreuz zu dem auf, was er heute ist.
