Kaunas Biennial
Kaunas Biennial is organized since 1997. Every event of the biennial is created from scratch, i.e. by changing the structure, the conditions of participation, the character of exhibitions, the conception, also by involving [new] partners, curators, artists and people working in different areas of culture for a common purpose: communication through the expression of art and creative processes. Since 2017 Kaunas Biennial is the leading organisation for the Creative Europe Platform project MAGIC CARPETS, which unites 15 organisations, based in 15 different European Union and candidate countries. Kaunas Biennial is delighted to announce the appointment of Josée Drouin-Brisebois as Curator for the 13th Kaunas Biennial, which will take place on 5 November 2021 – 30 January 2022. NGO Kaunas Biennial seeks to make significant events for contemporary art in Kaunas, Lithuania and Europe, which reflect analytically the art processes currently taking place all over the world, by bringing up the priorities of creative collaboration and openness in the processes of art creation and its perception. Kaunas Biennial is a platform and a real opportunity for: – artists’ debates and the realisation of innovative ideas, – collaboration among artists and visitors, – the enhancement of the sense of community through creative activities, – interdisciplinary artistic and academic practices, – international and intercontinental partnerships and – the creation of a discursive culture. The Purposes of the Kaunas Biennial: – To encourage the dynamics of contemporary art in Kaunas, its region and on the international level by organising international, group and personal exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad, publishing art reviews, publications, and catalogues; – Through educational programmes and collaboration projects to create a discursive environment and ensure maximum access to culture for various age and interest groups in Kaunas.

POPDRIPS“ is a group of young Lithuanian artists, with different lifestyles, who love being free by creating art. Lately gathered in en empty, old and large factory, which with its spirit of freedom and spaciousness, even more pushes to get out of comfort zone and express themselves in art. Believing and finding themselves in the same idea of exploring popart from every way it is possible – lead to an amazing results in paintings or sculptures. POPDRIPS is identified by showing different cartoon characters or celebrities, stars through comics, through contrast of colors and detailed drawings or meaningful thoughts. Mostly working with acrylic and spray paints, creating collages by comic or different books, pictures, using markers and epoxies. It seems like there is no just one or specific way of expressing themselves because there are no rules or mistakes in art, only good vibes, amazing atmosphere to share love and ideas. Great teamwork leads to perfect detailing and thoughtful review of each work that it produces. The factory – our workplace - is a safe place for artists to feel free, loose their stereotypes, explore their inner strengths and brightest colors in art.

Av17 Gallery
The (AV17) gallery, which was founded in 2011, concentrates its activity on sculpture, installation, object art, conceptual jewelry, as well as photo and video art exhibitions. Activity is joined by various educational sessions such as lectures on contemporary art, meetings, artist-lead workshops, master-classes, etc. Since its establishment, the (AV17) gallery has been pursuing its ambition to contribute to presentation and popularization of contemporary art in Lithuania and abroad. One of the most important principles of the gallery’s activity – collaboration both with established local and foreign today’s artists as well as emerging ones – will remain a priority. The (AV17) gallery cooperates with Lithuanian and foreign artists, galleries, art institutions and art academies located in Italy, Estonia, Germany, Great Britain, and Poland. For several consecutive years, the gallery has been implementing international exhibition exchange projects, in which Lithuanian artists are introduced to the wider public worldwide and foreign artists have the opportunity to display their works in Lithuania. The gallery will not be limited solely to exhibitions at its new premises, but will continue to expand opportunities for cooperation with other artistic initiatives abroad and in Lithuania, as well as will continue to look for new ways to present the artists.(AV17) will also develop its activity outside of the gallery, by presenting contemporary art in unusual locations and in the spaces lacking of it. In the Lithuanian context, the gallery maintains the unique space focusing on the creative search in different arts.

Creative Workshop Beepart
Non-profit community house “Beepart”: workshop space for innovative architecture and artistic manifestations Established: 2009 Initiator: Andrius Ciplijauskas Team: 5 permanent volunteers and many project-based people of good will Beepart (“Be a part”, “bee art” or “bee” in the sense of “common work”) established artistic workshops as a centre of public attraction in Pilaitė, Vilnius; a place for unique ideas to be born and implemented. Organization's mission is to disseminate culture and promote Sense of Community, initiatives, and cultural - social innovations in neighborhood districts (All entertainment and events in Vilnius, just as in other post-soviet cities, are concentrated in the center, usually the old town. This leaves the bigger part of the city – the so-called "dormitory areas" – in a complete cultural standstill). The workshops aim at the local community and international projects. We draw all attention to the improvement of local social climate. Various events involving the local community are being organised with the help of volunteers. Higher educational institutions of art, their representatives and private companies are invited to work together as well. With a help of volunteer, district's tourist map is made as well as surrounded forest is cleaned making it in a park and recreation place. The building, which was designed for two years by Simonas Liūga and Andrius Ciplijauskas, distinguishes for its atypical design, different space perception and innovative, environment-friendly solutions. The aim is to collect the building from modules completely independent from town‘s infrastructure. For example, an improved heating system, sewerage and system of waste disposal are all part of this project. The first International Light Installation Festival Beepositive happened in the Autumn 2011 and is being organized once per year.

Hand-shadow theater "Budrugana Lithuania" is a group of passionate people who were gathered by Doc. Vytautas V. Landsbergis in 2014 at Klaipeda Art Academy. In 2015-2017 the group were studying acting and unique hands shadow technique in Georgia, Tbilisi. Their mentor and teacher was one of the most famous Georgian actors and directors, hands shadow theater founder and professor, Gela Kandelaki.
