Ftc Team 7159 - Roboravens
The Robo Ravens is an FTC team established at Canyon Crest Academy in 2013. Working during lunches and after school from 3:00 to 4:30, we design, build, program, and test our robot for the season’s game. During our rookie year, our team was a class full of 35 people, consisting of returning members from other FTC teams and incoming freshmen. All members had varying degrees of previous experience in robotics, providing a wealth of knowledge and diversity to the team. New members were introduced to Gracious Professionalism, its importance to the FIRST community, and how it applies in real life situations. The classroom environment fostered an environment of creativity and innovation that helped us better design our robot. In later seasons, without teacher supervision or the motivation of a grade, we had to adjust ourselves to our newfound independence. Our true understanding of robotics was put to the test when training newer members. Initially, we had to take care of many logistical aspects of the team. Afterwards, the preparation for the competitions truly began. We spent the first few weeks brainstorming and prototyping ideas for our robot. Despite having limited time to meet, our team successfully completed our robot design while learning a lot and having fun.

Founded in June 2022 as a 501(c)3 non-profit, Montana Robotics Alliance (MTRA) advocates for youth robotics across Montana. Our mission is to inspire young people to become future science and technology leaders through exciting mentor-based programs that build essential skills in science, engineering, and technology, while fostering innovation, self-confidence, communication, and leadership. As the Program Delivery Organization for the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC), MTRA facilitates K-12 participation in robotics competitions that develop both technical skills and life competencies. Through mentorship from industry professionals and educators, students are encouraged to pursue STEAM careers. Our operations are entirely volunteer-driven, with board members bringing over 20 years of experience managing FTC programs in Montana.
