Qatar Olympic Committee
Overview: The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) is the National Olympic Committee of Qatar and is the overall supervising body for the Olympic movement in Qatar. It is one of 205 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) currently recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The QOC was founded on 14th March 1979. It was officially recognised by the International Olympic Committee in 1980, the Olympic Council of Asia in 1981 and the Arab Sports Games Federation in 1982. The QOC’s responsibilities are to encourage sports participation at every level, bring world-class sports events to Qatar, ensure sporting success and promote Olympism. The QOC strives to use innovation to advance sports development and many of its programs, initiatives and events are the first of their kind in the Middle East. These include National Sport Day, the Qatar Olympic Academy, the Qatar Women’s Sports Committee, the Schools Olympic Program, and the Qatar Athlete Development Pathway. The QOC works closely with its 27 National Federations to provide support to athletes, coaches and officials at every level of the sporting pathway, as well as in the bidding for and organisation of world-class sports events. It aims to use its hosting of world-class sports events to inspire and engage young people through sport, raise awareness about the importance of sport in everyday life, increase tourism, business and employment opportunities, and forge global friendships. The Qatar Stars League (QSL) is the top professional football league in Qatar. Currently made up of 12 teams, the QSL works to develop and support professional football in Qatar. The QSL organises and manages football championships in Qatar such as the Qatar Stars League, Qatar Stars Cup QNB and the Heir Apparent Cup, as well as other football activities and competitions according to QFA, AFC, and FIFA regulations. Working closely with the Qatar 2022 Local Organising Committee (LOC), the SC is also responsible for 2022 FIFA World Cup™ host country planning and operations. Families and groups of fans arriving from around the world will experience a secure, human-centred tournament that both celebrates and exemplifies the hospitality for which Qatar and the region are known. Finally, through programmes including Generation Amazing, Challenge 22, Workers’ Welfare, initiatives such as Community Engagement and the establishment of the Josoor Institute, the SC harnesses the power of football to stimulate human, social, economic and environmental development in communities across Qatar, the region and Asia.

Xavier too has been linked to the world of professional and recreational sports as a physical trainer for 20 years. The State of Qatar hosts the World Road Championships organized by the Union Cycliste Internationale Doha, 9-16 October 2016. Doha will host around racers from 75 countries and more than 5700 participants from national federations, delegations, technicians and journalists in addition to around fans and millions of spectators from all over the world. In Doha 2016, The Road World Championships are different! RWC is an annual event, which the UCI has been organizing since 1921. The first edition took place in Denmark. By hosting the UCI RWC in Doha 2016, Qatar will become the first Middle East country to stage it and the second Asian country after being hosted by Japan in 1990. The unforgettable experience will be totally different as for the first time; the broadcasting will be through very outstanding parkour with the surroundings of the Arabian Gulf, Katara Cultural Village and Pearl. The Arabian well-known hospitality, the windy weather, the gulf surroundings, and the generous touches will add different flavors to 2016 Championship.
