Cork Lifeguard Academy
At Cork Lifeguard Academy, our approach to water safety and First Aid education is anchored in one core principle: Lifeguards training Lifesavers. By learning directly from experienced Lifeguards and professional First Aid instructors, trainees gain the kind of practical insight and real-world confidence that only hands-on expertise can provide. Our instructors bring extensive front line experience from multiple seasons serving on Cork’s beaches and within local water safety services. Their knowledge, decision-making skills, and deep understanding of risk allow us to train Lifeguards and First Aiders to a standard that goes beyond the syllabus and prepares them for real situations in real environments. Cork Lifeguard Academy was founded by Graham Kerr, driven by a long-standing commitment to employ, support, and elevate Lifeguards and First Aid professionals. He believes that genuine expertise and passion should be recognised, valued, and invested back into the community. Today, Cork Lifeguard Academy is proud to deliver industry-leading training in Pool Lifeguarding, Beach Lifeguarding, and accredited First Aid, helping individuals and organisations build safer communities through high-quality, experience-led education.

West Cork Training & Development Scheme
Who We Are West Cork Training & Development Scheme (WCTD) was formed in with the objective of providing a flexible and proactive approach to individual training and development through Community Employment (CE). Why We Are The aim of CE is to enhance the employability and mobility of disadvantaged and unemployed persons by providing work experience and training opportunities for them within their communities. In addition, it helps long-term unemployed people to re-enter the active workforce by breaking their experience of unemployment through a return to work routine. Our Projects CE projects are typically sponsored by groups wishing to benefit the local community, namely voluntary and community organisations and, to a lesser extent, public bodies involved in not-for-profit activities. Such projects provide a valuable service to local communities while at the same time providing training and educational opportunities to jobseekers. Our Participants Our participants are 21 or over and in receipt of a qualifying social welfare payment for one year or more.
