Gardabani Tpp
The 230MW Gardabani combined-cycle thermal power plant in the Kvemo Kartli region of Georgia was developed by the Partnership Fund (PF), Georgia’s state-owned shareholding company, and its subsidiary the Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation (GOGC). The combined-cycle thermal power plant has the capacity to produce 1.8TWh of energy annually and is the first of its kind in the country. It has the reserve capacity to supply the country’s energy grid for 25 to 30 minutes in the case of a power failure. Construction of the plant began in January 2013 and was commissioned in October 2016. The estimated cost of the project is $230m.

Georgia Global Utilities (GGU) is the key player in water utility and renewable energy sectors in Georgia, supplying potable water and providing wastewater collection and treatment services to more than one-third of country’s population, as well as generating clean energy by owning and operating 220MW installed capacity hydro and wind power plants across the country. GGU’s water utility business represents regulated natural monopoly in Tbilisi (the capital city of Georgia) and its surrounding areas, providing uninterrupted water and wastewater supply services to approximately 1.4 million residential and commercial customers. The company represents the largest private player in the water utility sector in Georgia. In addition to owning full-cycle infrastructure of water supply and wastewater treatment services, GGU also manages and generates electricity through the ownership of eight power plants (in total 199MW installed capacity) and the only wind farm in Georgia (21MW installed capacity).
